Precessional - Parents too??

Katie, on February 12, 2020 at 10:36 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11

I have a very small wedding party. 2 bridesmaids, 1 groomsman, 1 flower girl, 1 ring bearer. Google just ruined my whole world and said Parents are sat down right before the ceremony, signaling the start. Should I have his parents/my mother sat during the regular processional? The song I want is like 6 minutes long and I want the whole dang thing lol but idk if that's weird. 44 days out and I'm a basket case! Please help.

They can walk down whenever YOU decide lol It's your day, let the song play 1 minute, have them walk, then everyone else. It will work.

I’m thinking about doing the same thing because we don’t have a wedding party, the aisle is kind of short, and I want everyone to come out to the same song.

I finally decided... it only took me all of like 5 hours 🤦🏼‍♀️ I found a really pretty piano/cello cover of Perfect by Ed Sheeran and I’m going to have the grandparents/parents/officiant/groom/groomsman walk down to that. Then My bridal party and myself are walking down to Cannon in D. I know it’s cliche but it’s the only song I’ve ever envisioned myself walking down the aisle to. Plus, it’s easy to fade out.

That sounds beautiful, not cliche at all.

We are having the officiant walk first then my FH will walk my mom. His parents then the bridesmaid and groomsmen. The littles and my dad and me. We excluded grandparents from the processional.

We are going to have grandparents, parents, wedding party, ring bearers, then me!

If you don't want them to walk, don't feel obligated! I've seen it done both ways Smiley smile We actually asked our grandparents if they would even be interested in walking down the aisle (we didn't want them to feel uncomfortable) and they said they would love to!

Some people have both of the groom's parents walk him down, and both of the bride's parents walk her down. That makes it less like the bride is being given away like a piece of property, and more like both of you are acknowledging your origins. It avoids having to get the parents seated before the ceremony. And having the groom walk increases the length of the processional, meaning you have more of a chance to get the whole six minutes in.
