Pre-venue Selection Planning/preparations

Brooke, on November 18, 2019 at 2:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hey everyone!

I am currently planning a destination wedding, so I haven't been able to tour all my venue options yet and therefore don't have any exact date or location locked in. I am stressing a bit over what I can do prior to choosing my venue, because I feel like 95% of the planning is based on that. Long story short, I want to utilize this time to my advantage and avoid being short on time for planning and preparation once I am finally able to select a venue.

Were there any tasks you all worked on prior to selecting your venue?

You could begin to make a guest list and gather addresses.
    Take engagement photos
Design save the dates, Shop for a dress, Ask your bridesmaids and MOH to stand with you on your big day, Come up with a color scheme and/or theme

Hey Brooke!! Where are you having your destination wedding? Are there any venues that you are really considering? Are you planning on having your ceremony and reception at the same venue?

There is a lot of research that you could start doing, like choosing your photographer. Have you thought about what style of dress you would like to wear?

    Hey Marcia!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I've pretty much got the guest list down and I'm working on all the addresses. I hadn't thought of designing the save that dates!! I'm also going to start working on my wedding party "proposals". Thanks again for the wonderful ideas!

    Hey there!

I'm planning my wedding in Florida, my finance's family are all from there, however my family is all from the midwest. I do plan on having the ceremony and reception at the same venue. I've gone through so many venues, but I've finally narrowed it down and I will be starting with two of my favorites. I have tours scheduled next week and I'm so excited to see them in person. I'm already feeling very torn though because one is a great location and super pretty inside the reception area, but I am in love with the appearance of the other one. It is also all-inclusive which would make my life/job way easier. lol But the location is not ideal it is kind of in the middle of nowhere and I was originally hoping to have it near other things that my guests from back home could do and so the guest from Florida wouldn't have to travel far.

I have researched photographers a little but that is definitely something I could work on more! Thanks for the suggestion!

I have considered what style of dress I would like, but I will definitely need to try some on to see if my visions actually come to life. lol I do feel that the style of dress I choose will be slightly dependant on the venue I end up going with.

Oh, I hope you have so much fun at your venue tours! You never know, when you are there in person you might feel like one is the obvious choice over the other!

Do you have a timeline roughly for when you would like to go dress shopping?
