Pre-stamp rsvp envelopes?

Leonormorrow, on December 18, 2019 at 10:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

I would like all of my guests to send in the RSVP card (no online RSVP option on website). I am planning to pre stamp these to make it easier for guests to send them in.

However, do you think some people will just tell me in person/over text and not send the card in? I don't want to waste stamps if this is something that would happen often.

I would pre-stamp all envelopes. Even the people I thought might tell me in person or over text still sent their cards back. Some stamps may be wasted, but it will probably be a miniscule amount.

You should stamp all envelopes. You will likely have people that don't rsvp, but that's all part of planning.

Maybe. I would maybe just have them all RSVP via phone. Save the stamps all together unless that will annoy the heck out of you lol. I am all about saving where you can. Smiley smile

I didn’t take RSVPs over text or in person. It’s too easy to forget. If someone told me in person I would say “I’m glad you can make it! Don’t forget to send in your RSVP!”

They’re not gonna all send them and some will go to waste. But you just can’t predict that.

Yes, people will definitely not all send them in. i remember having so many people that didnt send it in and i just had to ask them for their response. but it is best to prestamp anyway

We send out paper RSVPs that were stamped & addressed, but also gave guests the option to RSVP online. About 15% RSVPed online and the rest sent the paper ones back in. Out of 225 guests invited, all but 60 RSVPed then those we had to contact after the RSVP date so they responded via text.

I prestamped all of mine but only 7 people rsvp, the others still showed up but they didn’t respond, some didn’t even call or text, most did though. But in my opinion it was a waste. The 7 people were the closest people, so maybe only Prestamp ones you’re certain would make the effort to send it out if they’re attending

I think it is proper wedding etiquette to include the stamp if that is the route you are going for RVPS's. Of course you will get some people who tell you via word of mouth or text but if you aren't doing online RSVP's I would say to definitely include the stamp.

I think pre-stamping is a great way to further encourage guests to send back their RSVPs!

Thanks! Seems like I should do it and it won’t cost much more anyway.

I pre stamped all of mine. If someone tried to give me a verbal response, I told them to send the card in. I just told them that that’s how I’m staying organized, and since organization clearly isn’t my strong point in life, everyone was fine with it and got a laugh out of me rejecting their verbal response.

I did that. I sent out 75 invites and only got 7 back before the wedding. One two days later. It's a good idea to do, but for me it was a total waste of money

If you are going to collect RSVP's by mail and pre-stamp envelopes you are just going to have to reconcile the fact that some of those cards will never get sent and you will end up wasting some money.

Our friends had 200+ guests at their wedding and pre-stamped envelopes for everyone except for those of us who lived locally and told them not to.
