Pre-owned Wedding Dresses... Thoughts?

I’m debating if buying a pre-owned wedding dress is OKAY, if it’s something appropriate enough to cut costs on....

What exactly is the risk if it’s been previously altered?

I would be careful, sometimes pre-owned dresses require a ton of alterations and end up costing more than a brand new dress.

If it's a recent style, you can often find it and try it on at a bridal salon.

This didn't come up for us, because we bought ours from a consignment store (which I loved, since it enabled us to try on our actual dresses rather than a sample in a completely different size). But if you're buying online, it's worth trying on the same style in a bridal salon first.

I found a salon on preownedweddingdresses.com and I’m flying across the country to go to it. They sell their samples so so so cheap. Even with the plane ticket, it is still less than retail for all of the dresses I am considering.
Highly recommend giving that site a look! Lots of samples or even brand new dresses on there at huge discounts.

I think it’s totally okay! I found one in a consignment store for $2 that I was more than willing to buy haha. I would have, as it was the perfect style, but it was several sizes too big and would have cost a lot in alterations.

It's a personal choice, but I would be open to this. So long as the dress is in good condition and I like it, I would consider it

I'm actually selling two dresses on that site. It's really legit. Be careful because scams are possible for ANY online shopping (ebay, etc), but you can get amazingly beautiful gowns for a fraction of the price. And you're protected by PayPal.

Also, a LOT of the dresses are new with tags. One of the ones I'm selling is new and never worn. The other was worn by my cousin for just the ceremony and some pictures so it's also pretty pristine.

Make sure you compare your measurements against the designer's sizing scheme.

    Happy hunting!

When I was shopping the first places I went were consignment shops because I knew what a price different used and new dresses had! I don’t see anything wrong with it. If a dress has been worn it’s probably only been worn once and it most likely got cleaned afterwards so it’s like new anyway!
