Pre-lit Arch for Ceremony?

Nay, on September 4, 2013 at 12:16 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

Thinking about a pre-lit arch for our ceremony. Found one on Amazaon, but I've heard that Michael's also sells it and may go take a looksie. Our ceremony is only about 20 minutes and don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a floral arch from the florist for such a quick ceremony. Thinking about doing an arch like in the pic (flowers not included - just lights). Second pic is the ceremony space. It will be setup theater style for approx. 70 guests. Just want something pretty for us to stand in front of during our vow renewal ceremony for photo opps. Anyone done this before or seen one at a ceremony? Wondering how hard/easy it is to assemble.

Thanks. I'll have to make a trip over there. There's one not far from my house. My new concern is will it stand up on its own on a rug. And I guess I would need to assemble it well beforehand to make sure I like it, and then break it down.

As long as nobody bumps it, and you dont have some heavy flowery thing hanging from the top of it, it should be fine. The lights are heavy enough to keep it grounded as long as nobody bumps into it.

Thanks for all the info. Hubby is not for the idea of us having to put anything together right before our ceremony. I'm anti DYI but he is Mega anti DYI. Have to think of something else lol

ETA: Yes hubby is very involved lol

I'm pretty sure you can just move it into the room at some point already out together. They aren't that big. In fact I'm not even sure I would call this a "real" DIY. Maybe, but I don't really think there is much to do other than snap it in place?

Thanks Kate. That's my thinking. I'm going to visit Michael's and see exactly what it takes to put together and see if it's an option. And the cost is much less than $300 which is what the florist was going to charge for an arch with silk flowers.

Years ago, I bought one from Michael's that was NOT lighted. I could assemble it into 2 sections (left & right) and decorate each half with tulle and silk flowers. Then when needed, I only needed to put in a couple of bolts at the top to hold the 2 halves together.

I believe the arch you're talking about has feet to stand on hard surfaces when not sticking it in the sand or grass.

I have one that is the exact same thing at Michaels (lighted) but I found someone selling theirs on craigslist for $10 Smiley smile. I have not attempted to put it together yet, but doesn't look like it will be too difficult.

Thanks. We've scratched the arch idea. Hubby doesn't want to have to assemble anything right before our ceremony or even the day before. Now doing a table like this pic for the ceremony. I'm thinking of maybe doing high candelabras instead of flowers for each end.

Honestly Nay -- That looks much more complicated to set up than the arch would be

I got the one from Michael's. it's easy to assemble but not the best quality. I'm hoping once I put on the lights it'll be more grounded.

Looks less complicated to us. The venue is providing the table and I just need to get a nice tablecloth and a few candles. Not doing it as elaborate as the pic. And found some high candelabras for each end and a few votive stands, some small candles in the front and it's a wrap. Also going to call the florist that's doing our centerpieces that are included in our package and see how much two tell centerpieces like in the picture would cost.

ETA: Plus we don't want to have to assemble anything in our hotel room. We're checking in on Thursday and would have to assemble it in our room to bring down to the ballroom either day before if there's no event or the morning of. Then we would still need to decorate it with garland, flowers, etc. Then have to break it down the day after and bring back up to our room. We're not checking out until Monday. The table seems like an easier setup and breaking down would just involve getting the candles.
