Pre-Ceremony Music

Mrs., on August 20, 2010 at 5:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I am loving the string quartet stuff! You can find pretty much any song you want done string quartet style on youtube! It makes even the hardest rock song sound so classical lol So hard deciding what to play for the pre-music with so many options! Maybe I'll mix a bunch of string quartet versions of songs. I was thinking of doing Skater Boi by Avril Lavigne just cause it would be funny cause I used to sing it at karaoke with this one group of friends. They used to request me to lol! But only those few people would get it...

Anyways, I'm rambling... but how long do they usually play the pre-ceremony music for?

My quartet said they do 30 min. I looove your idea of skater boi. The older people will have no idea and think it's just lovely, but your friends will love it!!

I did all modern songs in a sting version for my preceremony - all of them were from the Vitamin Sting Quartet though... My fav was Lady Gaga's Bad Romance!!! we used it for our ceremony too... I walked out Journey's "don't stop believin'" and our recessional was "any way you want it"! haha I loved it!

I'm gonna have some atypical songs too. I think it's a fun way to infuse some personality but it's still subtle.

I amso lucky that my husband is an amazing musician. I walked down the stairs/aisle to a piano ballad he wrote for me when we first started datig in 1999. Then we walked out to another one of his piano ballads. We even used his music for the slide show I put together.

30 minutes prelude music is typical while guests begin to arrive....

Aside from Vitamin String, any other groups you can name that do this? I feel like I've exhausted the Vitamin String reserve.

I'm actually doing something a little different. I found this beautiful Spanish guitar CD from Tagret called "An Evening in Madrid." It fits perfect because it's really elegant and sort of not your average pre-ceremony music. I'm also half Spanish, and my husband plays beautiful Spanish guitar music, so it's great.

Plan to start the music 15-20 minutes prior to your ceremony time, but have about 40 minutes of music prepared. That way, you don't have to worry about running out or looping back if things don't get started on time!

I found a CD at Party City that has about 12 instrumental songs on it. Including the wedding march, Canon in D Major, Sinfonia in F Minor, etc.
