Prayer of the Faithful for Catholic wedding

xjoyceee, on March 6, 2017 at 1:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I'm currently working on the wording of the Prayer of the Faithful for our wedding. I have a few samples from the book the church coordinator gave us, an example from a previous wedding at our church, and I've been looking for samples online as well. But this is a lot harder than I thought it would be! I think I finally have the wording of how I want everything, but I'm afraid of it being too long. The real example the coordinator gave us only has four prayer sections, but the one I made for our wedding has seven prayers because there's so much I want to include! How many prayer sections is typical for a wedding?

Seven is kind of a lot but can I suggest combining some?

    We did four:

*For J and T who begin their new life together on this special day, may their home be filled with laughter and happiness and may the Lord bless them and keep them safe

*For J and T's parents, having given them life in the beginning, they watch from heaven as they build a new and happy life together

*For all of J and T's friends here present, young and old, married and single, that they be blessed with health and peace

*We remember the smiles and laughter of those who have gone before us, who would have loved to share in the joy and happiness of this day. We thank God for the happy memories they have left with us. May God one day unite us again.

I don't think 7 is necessarily too many. If you post them here maybe people would offer suggestions on how you could shorten them or combine them.

For the Church and its leaders, and for all bishops, priests, and deacons. May they continue to lead the Church to a deeper faith and love of others. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

For those who are sick, lonely, or struggling. May they be strengthened by God's love and aided by their family and friends. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

For all those preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. May they grow together in wisdom and grace and may they see their vocation to married life as a sign of God's love. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

For the married couples here today, may they be reminded of the joy of their own day and may they continue to live as an example of unity and love. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

For the parents of M & J, their brothers and sisters, and all their family and friends gathered here today. May they continue to be a source of love, support, and guidance. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

For M & J, who begin their new life together on this special day. May their love grow deeper each day, may their home be filled with joy and happiness, and may the Lord bless them and keep them safe. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

For all those who have gone before us, especially the relatives of M & J. May they know the peace and perfect happiness of eternal life with God. We pray to the Lord.

    Lord, hear our prayer.

i also thought about combining some of them somehow but wasn't sure exactly how. i guess i may end up having to narrow this down a little. i don't want it to be too wordy either.

Joyce, that is very nice Smiley smile

You could combine the marriage ones:

*For all those preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. May they grow together in wisdom and grace and may they see their vocation to married life as a sign of God's love. And for the married couples here today, may they be reminded of the joy of their own day and may they continue to live as an example of unity and love. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.

    and

"For those who are sick, lonely, or struggling. May they be strengthened by God's love and aided by their family and friends. And for all those who have gone before us, especially the relatives of M & J. May they know the peace and perfect happiness of eternal life with God. We pray to the Lord.
