Pravana- Keratin Fusion Texture Control??

LavenderJoy, on February 12, 2014 at 8:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Happy Hump Day!

So I went to a local hair salon last night to get my natural hair done. I normally almost always wear weaves or half-wigs in my hair because it's easily manageable for me. When I took out my last sewn-in weave I had ALOT of breakage which was confirmed when I went into the salon last night. I ended having to have her cut 4 inches off my hair. It didn't make any sense in having long choppy hair.

So now I REALLY want my hair to grow and be healthy. I will go faithfully to the salon every 2 weeks for maintenance. My stylist suggested I get the Pravana Keratin Fusion Texture Control treatment to restore proteins in my hair and also make it more manageable.

Has anyone ever heard of this treatment? Has anyone ever used this treatment? How did you like it? Do you know anyone that used this treatment? How did they like it?

I'm scheduled to get this treatment March 15th (The day of my Engagement Party... Eeeeek :-/ ).

I have not tried that specific brand but I have had a keratin treatment on my damaged natural hair in an attempt to restore it. It did not work for me and I hated the process. It was a complete waste of time. I don’t know anyone with my hair texture that was satisfied with any treatment like this. For me the application was very difficult because my hair had to be completely wet to apply the treatment. However, because my hair was damaged it dried fast and my stylist was constantly trying to keep it wet. And, trying to comb the treatment though my natural 4C kinky hair was a big pain in the ass. It took forever. It was supposed to last for three months but it only worked for one.

I would suggest normal protein treatments maybe once or twice a month. And alternating between protective styles that don't put too much stress on your hair and giving your hair complete breaks from any major styling. And continue to cut off hair that is damaged because you can never truly repair that hair. And try to stay away from heat as much as possible. What really helped me was wearing full wigs and full lace front.

I hope that helped a little.

And now that I've read your post again. I'm not sure you meant natural hair as in no relaxer or just simply your hair. :-/

I am just going to suggest trying out the supplement called Hairfinity. Lots and lots of my African American friends recommended it to me. In fact, my ex's sister told me I HAD to try it. If you go to www.hairfinity.com you will see some result pictures.I took it for 4 months and my hair grew more than six inches. It is thicker and healthier than it has ever been. It is very much worth it!

@Candice - Yes, I have been perm free since last April. I've been reading ALOT of the reviews about the Keratin treatments and to me it seems like its sort of like a mild relaxer. I really don't want to put any harsh "relaxer like" chemicals in my hair.

@Jesse's Girl - Thanks. I have not looked at the website yet. What is the product? Is it something that I will need to do at home? After hearing more about the Keratin Treatment I'm not going to get it done. I'm just going to keep up my regular hair maintenance by going into the salon every two weeks for deep conditioning, blow out, and flat ironing. I have done this in the past and actually last me the 2 weeks without having to touch up with a flat iron at home. So essentially I would only have heat on my hair twice a month.

I just want my hair to be healthier for the wedding and obviously lifelong.

Makes my hair grow a ton - it makes it shinier as well.

    Hairfinity does work! Co-sign.

Have you tried protective styling? You have time to do some and see some good length for your wedding. When I leave my hair alone, and do protective styles, it blooms....

Never heard of it b4 but what i do is get deep conditions, ends clipped, blow dry w/ NO products about ever 3 weeks and my hair is naturally and healthy as ever. However my hair is trained so if u keep the weave out and gets regular shampoos/deep conditions, ends clips, your hair can grow very healthy.

Here's a pic of my hair w/ no chemicals! Good luck =)

Keratin is a magical protein that dramatically improves hair strength and growth- I use Rusk Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner and even though I've tried other shampoos, this is the one I always gravitate towards. We (school) promote the Rusk Keratin Smoothing Treatment if you want slick, straight hair without a relaxer; yes, it is an extremely mild form of "relaxer", but so incredibly mild, the "relaxer" part is almost not even there. It's a treatment that can be done over color, perms, almost (emphasize almost) anything chemical previously done. I haven't heard of Pravana, but the way you described it sounds very similar.

Also, while protein is amazing for your hair, make sure you are balancing it with moisture like argan and olive oils, as too much protein can make your hair brittle and snap. As a stylist, I recommend alternating treatments. If one week you need the keratin treatment, then the next week or so get a deep conditioner done. And just keep cycling like that for gorgeous hair Smiley smile

Now i'm using a Formaldehyde Free Keratin Treatment from Unnique http://www.unnique.com/en/unniquedeeprepair.php which is called deep repair treatment. It really helps my frizzy hair. Now my hair has become more manageable and tangle free.
