Potentially pregnant moh

Kelly, on August 29, 2022 at 1:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

My sister/MOH is trying to get pregnant. She said something recently about possibly needing a maternity dress. I was going to have everyone get satin dresses from Avery Austin, but now I don't know what to do because they don't have maternity dresses in satin. Part of the problem is because I don't understand how she can buy a dress in advance if she's pregnant or doesn't know if she will be. Should she buy a dress off the rack a month before? I'm very confused and any guidance would be helpful.

My MOH had a baby about a month ago, and my wedding is in 2 months. She estimated her measurements would be similar ~3 months postpartum to ~3 months out from giving birth, so that's how she ordered her dress. I'd reach out to the shop and ask what their recommendations are as far as order timelines, handling measurements, etc.

6 months is around when you'd need to order the dresses, so maybe re-evaluate around April? That would give her 7 months to try to conceive, and she'd probably have a better picture of her situation at that point.

I personally wouldnt worry about something yet that has not even happened. pregnancy can happen immediately, or take years. If she becomes pregnant I would ask a seamstress what they recommend.

With your wedding over a year away, I don't think this is something you need to worry about yet. Dresses don't need to be ordered yet. I would wait until the wedding is closer to make a decision.

One of my bridesmaids had her baby 2 weeks before my wedding. My bridal shop recommended a "5 months pregnant = postpartum" sizing. Just in case, she also got a corset back altered into the dress for leniency on size in case baby was late.

But I agree with others, this is a bridge to cross when she gets pregnant. If your wedding is over a year away, she could get pregnant and give birth within that time. It might take longer and maybe she'll be only 3-4 months pregnant by your wedding. It's all up in the air right now, but it's good to have a plan!

Your wedding is next year - she can wait for a month or two before wedding to buy the dress

My wedding is in two months, we ordered bridesmaid dresses four weeks ago from Davids Bridal, and we already received it two weeks ago.

Plus since she is the maid of honor, I won't be too worried if her dress doesn't match others. It just makes it obvious she is our MOH
