Dedicated June 2020

Potentially Moving

So, FH is in school full time right now and will be graduating December of this year. Currently we're living in Seattle, and all his family and most of my family are here in Washington/Oregon as well. We're not sure where we're going to be once he graduates--hopefully he'll be able to get a job here, but we don't really know how it's going to play out yet because we'll have to go wherever he gets a job, meaning we'd have to move in the middle of wedding planning... Our wedding is set for September 2020. We haven't put down deposits on anything, so we're not tied to having our wedding in Washington, but we'd rather have it in Seattle. If he gets a job immediately after he graduates, that would leave us 8 months to plan the wedding... Is that enough time to book a venue or plan a wedding in general? We're going to have a weekday wedding and the venue we toured recently said that our date probably wouldn't book up... How hard is it to plan a wedding from a different state?

I work as a wedding planner in Portland and I would say about 40% of our couples are planning from out of state. Its not impossible but it is certainly much easier if you have a wedding planner. If you can't afford a wedding planner try to find a venue that includes one.

    It is definitely enough time!

i always suggest more time than that especially if you're planning something that's somewhere else.

but that's why there are places that make it easier by having inclusive packages. my friend planned hers in three months for 100 people simply by buying those inclusive packages that just do everything for you.

It depends on the area. We booked our venue & photographer & coordinator 14 months out, they were already booking into the following summer.
