Postponing to Spring....anyone Else? Far Enough?

Tiger Bride, on June 30, 2020 at 10:12 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

I have been leaning towards postponing our October wedding to April and I think my FI is warming up to the idea. We still have some concerns - what will the virus be like then, and whether there will be nationwide restrictions depending on the results of the election. But we don't really want to postpone a whole year.

Any other fall brides postpone to the spring? How are y'all feeling?

My husband's best friend just postponed their wedding from this October until next October. Unfortunately, nobody really knows how long this will effect the nation. We can certainly hope that by April 2021 that everything is back to normal, but there's no guarantee. My husband's 30th birthday is in December and my parents' 25th anniversary is in February 2021 and I had planned on throwing parties for both events, but at this point I'm not sure that's going to be a possibility. My sister-in-law was supposed to have her baby shower in May, but that was rescheduled for September. At this point, it is looking like she might just not have a shower at all and this was her first child. She struggled for years to have a baby and she certainly deserves a shower, but the pandemic has ruined that. In addition to my husband's best friend, two other friends have postponed their weddings. This pandemic is ruining everything for everyone. I pray this will be over soon.

I Think It Really Just Depends On What State Your In. Im In Virginia And We're Entering Phase 3 Tomorrow. We Have No Intentions On Postponing Or Canceling Our October Wedding And So Far There Have Been No Changes. I Do Understand Brides Postponing Due To The Stress of The Unknown. I Think Youll Be Okay In The Spring

It's hard to say if Spring 2021 will be safe. I am of the opinion that until there is a vaccine or a treatment that we will be operating under new protocols (masks, distancing, etc.) for a long time. As long as you are OK with your wedding possibly having restrictions then I would say book it, so long as you can reschedule again if you need to.

We postponed our July 2020 wedding to July 2022, just in case the pandemic is still a big problem next year (and also because of limited venue availability for 2021). I do know people who postponed to Spring 2021 though, and even though no one really knows what will happen by then, hopefully everyone will be adjusted to a new normal at that time, and hopefully events can occur as planned. I agree that it may also depend on which state you're in. There's still plenty of time for things to improve before spring 2021! Hoping for the best!

The wedding is in SC. Unless there are nationwide restrictions, I kind of doubt there will be statewide ones.

Our venue is a public park so I'm not sure what if any restrictions there would be. We are thinking of switching to cafeteria style service as opposed to buffet, but other than that we aren't planning to do anything differently. We will be giving out bottles of scented hand sanitizer when people enter the church. I'd prefer people not wear masks but if they want to, it's their choice.

We moved ours from 10/10/2020 to 4/10/2021. We hope this will be enough time for a vaccine. But who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s 9 months away. Who could have predicted that last October we’d be where we are now? I want to be optimistic about it, but if the time comes to be realistic about our options in another 6 months, we will try and rearrange again

We are 10/10/20 and our backup date is 4/10/21 as well! I think I might have seen you comment on another post. We'll get through this together! I've had a really good feeling about April ever since our venue told us it was available. I hope things work out for us! Smiley heart

We postponed from June 27 to March 28, 2021. We are being hopeful for now but there’s no way to know how things will progress over 6 months from now. Luckily our wedding is 50 guests so hopefully that is small enough.

I’m sure youve seen my posts. 😂 I’ve been on WW trying to find peace since we’ve moved the wedding. But I agree. ❤️

Im not so sure there will be vaccine next year. Dr Fauci said it himself yesterday. they go back and forth every day. im operating on the bird in the hand worth 2 in the bush principle. id rather do my smaller wedding now with protocols in place than hold out for next year which may be no different or worse

We postponed out to May 2021. I have no idea if things will be better than they are now, but I do think that we will get a lot of information over the next several months on how to responsibly host an event. However if things are status quo, I do know that I will not postpone a second time so will just have to evaluate how things are next spring and make some tough decisions.

Thanks everyone for your input! We are working on moving things now. For the first time last night I got a little sad that our 10/10/2020 wedding won't happen. We are planning to keep that date as a special weekend for us though and celebrate it as a half-iversary.
