Postponing. . . again

Monica, on August 4, 2020 at 3:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Okay so heres the story: original wedding date was April 4th, was cancelled when shelter in place happened 2weeks before our date. So our new date was October 3rd (October? Sure it’ll be fine, things will be better in the Fall 😐). We eloped on our anniversary in June so we could have a meaningful date.

So now beginning of August things are not looking so great and I dont see drastic improvements happening within the next 2 months (enough for everyone to feel comfortable attending). Its been so up and down, the strongest emotions were at the begging of all this. Went from we are having the wedding no matter what, to postpone? ok fine, to 50person guestlist? Ok fine, to now 50 ppl? Yea no thats too many ppl things are so bad right now.
So here we are. I kinda dont care anymore, you know when you just feel like whatever, it doesn’t bother u anymore. So deciding on a new date we are thinking we will go from October 3rd, 2020 to October 2nd 2021.

A few things: my reception hall is still hosting events they told me 150 is the limit (which I think is crazy). They told me its up to us, but on their end they aren’t canceling us. Im sure no one will feel comfortable going to a 150ppl wedding
Another is that we are family planning right now. The reception hall is open as soon as April 2021 but My thought process is hopefully we can get pregnant soon & have enough time for the pregnancy (last time it took me 6mo and this time we are at the 3mo mark, ik theres no way to tell when I will get pregnant) & very small amt of time for weightloss before october or November 2021

Side question: in theory how many inches of wiggle room can I get from removing the zipper & adding a corset back to My dress if I needed more space (mermaid/trumpet dress)?

With my dress the seamstress told me we could get about 2-3 inches of wiggle room adding a corset back.

I am sorry things are up and down. Girl I would keep forward with the plan and limit the guests just so you can have your beautiful dresses you purchased but that is me lol. Nothing wrong with postponing a year and the dress can be taken out if needed but for a fee.

Yea the reception hall said they are still hosting events & they just had a wedding last weekend. She literally said “we are going to continue having events until someone tells us we’re not allowed to”. So she said they are allowing 15or 175 guests. I was shocked. Im not sure our family would be comfortable coming even if its 50ppl. Ive been hearing stories (ppl we know personally) of someone went to a party & ended up getting sick, another one was there was a wedding & there were no servers for the buffet so everyone was using the same serving utensils & the mother of the bride ended up sick & tested positive after the wedding.

It sucks I kind of wanted to go ahead w the 50ppl but the more i think about it its not worth it if ppl aren’t wanting to come and the day of we end up having only 30ppl show up lol. The way i see it is by next year we will have Another baby in our photos and in addition to our flower girl

Why are your surprised? Lol. Girl Florida is the exact same going ahead until there's a lockdown but I feel you. Not worth you getting sick or someone else. Good luck and I hope things work out.

I'm so sorry you've been on this roller-coaster of decisions and emotions Monica!

I think postponing a year is wise in these current circumstances, and your guests will also appreciate your concerns for their health and well-being! Smiley heart

Tell me why my MIL just told me year is a long time and I dont have to keep the same vendors so I should cancel my contracts. I said what? She said yea because what if the vendors Change their phone numbers and then you have no way of contacting them so why don’t you just cancel and get your money back and find new people.

I said I have 12 vendors. They are not all going to refund me and I would have to take the time to re-research different vendors and go through the whole process again. it’s less stressful To keep my vendors because everything is already done just a new date. She said it would give me something to do.
Ive been out of wedding planning so long I forgot how much i love opinionated people’s opinions 😐😐
