Postponing Again

Michaela, on November 21, 2020 at 1:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Anyone just feel exhausted at the thought of planning their wedding for the third time? We’ve had to postpone once already, and in the process of postponing again.

We’ve already had our small ceremony in August, so we could get married, but are trying to still have our big wedding celebration (whenever that might be).
Part of me just wants to cancel and forget about it, but the other part thinks we are on the brink of returning to normal. Maybe by August 2021 things will be better?

I do think that things will be much better by august however I don't think it'll be normal. As long as you aren't planning a 200+ (Guests) event I think it'll be fine. If you plan on having some huge event then that may be an issue with restrictions

We are just going ahead with getting married in 17 days with only like 10-15 people in our backyard. We are still keeping our wedding date as of now as June 5th 2021 for a vowel renewal and a big party if it’s safe (probably won’t be). We are zooming the wedding to family and friends so they will be able to see the ceremony. We are hoping to have a big reception sometime in 2021 or 2022 at the latest. After that we will just not have one and forgo any deposits already put out.

I threw in the towel a long time ago on a traditional big wedding and I'm so glad I did

I went through something very similar. We were supposed to get married in May, postponed to November, and then when things weren't better we decided to do a micro wedding with immediate family and MOH/best man. It was so fun/special! We actually just canceled the bigger party we had planned for October 2021 because of this planning fatigue/stress you mention, and wanting to give the venue/vendors enough time to rebook so we could get $ back. I am definitely a bit sad about not having a bigger bash, but am now telling myself to just enjoy what we had (because it was wonderful) and if we're still feeling a void from not having the bigger party we can see what next year starts to look like and potentially plan a more casual anniversary party if it's safe enough and if we're feeling up for it. Wishing you the best of luck! I know this is incredibly hard and emotional.
