Postponement/change the Date cards for Next Year

Brandy, on May 1, 2020 at 10:05 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

For anyone who is having to change their wedding date to next year due to COVID-19,

are you sending a "Change the Date" card now, AND a "reminder" card a few months before the new date? (And then invites/rsvps a few weeks before the wedding)

Or are you just sending this 1 "change the date" a year in advance and hope no one loses the card or forgets to schedule around it?

My fiance and I have decided on July 2021. We are supposed to be sending out Invites soon, but will instead be sending Postponement/Change the Dates. I'm happy to have more time to save money for the wedding, but I still feel like that is so much money spent on postage and paper - Especially if we have to throw away our current invites, send new save(change) the dates, send reminder cards a few months before, and then new invites.

How is every one else handling this?

We are in the same boat as you. We were supposed to get married on July 10, 2020. We have now rescheduled to July 2, 2021. I am sending a "change the date" card. Then sending the normal invitations out when the time is right.

I agree with PP, I would send change of date cards and new invitations. Just because someone RSVPd yes for your original date doesn't mean that they can make it to the new date. The same goes for declines.

    Thank you =)

We're having a hard time coming up with the official date. Im not sure if I should wait to send cards until we have the new date officially planned, or if I should send "We'll keep you updated" cards Smiley xd. The struggle!

One way to avoid feeling like you need to remind people on a few months could be to send out magnetic change the date cards. It's hard to forget about a wedding when you see a reminder every time you open the refrigerator.

I know! I confirmed the date we wanted with our church and started reaching out to the other vendors, then found out the reception venue wasn't available that day. I had to reach back out to the church and confirm a new potential date with everyone I had just emailed. LOL I did it to myself though. I would save yourself time and money and just send the "Change the Date" cards to everyone when you know the new date.
