Postponement

So hopefully the third time is the charm. Our original date was 5.2.20 then 11.20.20 and now 6.19.21. I know I’m making the best decision but I’m feeling so sad. I just want to marry my person already? Any advice?

I’m sorry this happened. I’m glad to see that you’re able to get new dates each time though. I think if you do some thing on each of those dates like even if it’s a small indoor date with your spouse that would be really nice.

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with postponing. I could only imagine how heartbreaking it is. I am getting married next summer as well. We had a long engagement in addition to dealing with long distance and there was definitely times when I just wanted to stop waiting and marry him.

We postponed until next year as well. Too risky for us. You could still do a small intimate ceremony now and a bigger celebration next year if you can't wait. We already did that last year due to concerns about his mom's health. We dont feel like it is taking anything away from our bigger celebration

Get married now! Or on 11/20! You can still have your wedding next year.

Thanks so much! We don’t have to deal with long distance so I guess we have that working in our favor.

I just married my person. Was it the wedding we wanted? Not at all. Are we glad we did it? Absolutely. I don't think I realized it until we actually did it, but just becoming husband and wife was the most important thing and I think pushing it off longer would have broken me. I was absolutely wrung out and heartbroken leading up to our day but once we got married I just felt so much calmer and less stressed, even though the day itself wasn't at all what it should have been.

We ended up doing a super socially distanced ceremony with just our parents and a few close friends on our original date and pushed off our "big day" by a year and a couple weeks. I'm not all that confident we will actually be able to celebrate next spring, but even if we have to change that day again, at least we are married.

Do whatever is best for you and your partner.

I feel your pain. We are postponing for the 4th time. First was because of a financial issue that was caused by a vehicle recall that was never received until it caused a huge breakdown. The second time was because I had fallen at work and needed my second cervical fusion. Last year was due to a sinus surgery, and of course this year COVID. I am so broken, even though we will most likely get married on our date this year, this is not what we wanted. So our new and 4th date is October 23, 2021. We are dead set on an October wedding. Hugs to you and all others that are postponing, microwedding it, or doing something less that what was planned. In the end, yes it is all about being married to the one you love. Smiley heart

    Hi Christine,

I originally was 4.4.20 and then 9.19.20 and now I am 10.23.21. It was so hard to postpone so far out, but I know that it'll be one heck of party in the end! I ended up getting married on 7.18.20 and redesigned our party to be an anniversary party. I'm actually more excited now about the reception than I was before! So much stress off my shoulders.

Hope everything works out for you! I know the feeling.

    Michelle

Thanks Michelle! We will see what we decide to do. This year has been so awful and my Grandfather actually passed this last week so it makes planning even harder as I know he would have been at our original date. Ugh.
