Postponement phrasing? Ceremony question?

Jessie, on July 20, 2020 at 7:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
This is our SECOND time postponing our wedding.

Our first date was June 12th, then September 25th, and now it's May 28th, 2021. This will be our celebration now.
We decided to still get married on September 25th and just have dinner afterwards with our family and wedding party. We just wanna be married finally!
How how would you phrase this?Should we tell everyone we're still getting married in September? Will it be weird to still have a ceremony in May? I just feel like everyone says they're having their ceremony earlier, reception later. But the moment I've imagined forever is wearing my dress and walking down the aisle...

I’m wondering about this too...I was working on “Change-the-date” cards to send out and was going to write “for the Marriage Celebration” But will that make sense?

If we postpone our September wedding, we will still get married just the two of us and our kids, and we will invite everyone to a vow renewal ceremony and reception next year (or 2022.) We feel the same- we’ve been engaged 19 months and just want to get married, but we still want to have that moment with everyone we love too.

I wouldn’t know exactly what you meant by marriage celebration, if it was just a party or if you we’re going to have a ceremony. You could say vow renewal or vow exchange and celebration if you plan to do a ceremony and reception.

I’m working on this as we type lol

    Here’s what I have...

    Change the Date

In light of our current situation, we have decided to elope & celebrate with you for our vow renewal...” and then list the date, location, etc.

What about “... decided to elope and look forward to celebrating our vow renewal with you...”?
