Postponed Reception Announcement

Nicole, on August 13, 2020 at 4:28 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
Hi there! FH and I officially decided to forego our wedding plans for 11/6/20. Instead of the ceremony and reception, we are going to elope in a different part of the state with our immediate family present. Then next year on 11/5/20 we will have a postponed reception/anniversary party!

What I'm trying to figure out now is how to word the "change the date" card that I am sending. I don't know how to get across that we will be getting married on our original date still and that this will only be the reception portion. I also dont know what I should be calling it since it's also like an anniversary party. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I'm completely stuck!

I've seen templates on websites like Vistaprint that say "change of plans" or "change the date," then I would say something like "__ and __ will be married in a private ceremony on ___. Please save the date for their reception/celebration of marriage/reception/vow renewal/whatever on ___."

You could still word it as a wedding reception! Since you're not doing a ceremony next year, it won't really be a vow renewal. Or you could call it a celebration of your wedding/elopement. You could word the card as something along the lines of, "New plan! Due to COVID, we will be eloping on our original date in a private ceremony, and postponing our celebration to next year. Please save our new date and join us for our wedding reception on November 5, 2021".

The wording Caytlyn shared is perfect!

You can also look for wording ideas by searching for elopement announcements. I've seen some fun wording that acknowledges your marriage and asks guests to save the date for the celebration! 💌
