Postpone wedding due to quarantine baby!

Michelle, on August 12, 2020 at 9:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
We are set to have a small destination wedding in May 2021 however we are now expecting in March of 2021. Invitations have been sent and 50 people have RSVPd. The next step would be to start working with the travel agent. We are not ready to announce the pregnancy however we cannot leave people hanging. I am trying to figure out the correct wording to let them know that the wedding is pushed back without spilling the beans.

Maybe send out something that says -

    Change of Plans.... New Date

    or

We Do but not on March - New date -

    or

Our love story will still be told, but now on.....

Maybe send a postponement announcement/Change In Plans card, stating something along the lines of: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the wedding of [name] & [name] is being postponed." If you have a new date, be sure to include that info! Otherwise, state something such as, "We are working to reschedule, and will announce our new date once we finalize our plans." Most people will probably assume that the postponement is COVID related.

Blame it on Coronavirus lol it’s actually pretty convenient cause literally everyone is postponing right now. just say you decided that you don’t want to plan a destination wedding during a pandemic and you’ve moved it back x amount of months. And congrats!

Thank you! Ahahah so convenient. I know that eventually people will figure out why but covid seems like a good excuse right now. Thanks for your help!

Just send a change the date, you don’t need to give a reason. Most people will assume it’s the pandemic anyway.

Just send a change in the date to an un- named one after Sept 2021. People can assume what they want, Covid being most likely.

We used a site that made save the dates except used one that says “Love is patient” and explained in the back that due to covid, the wedding has been postponed to “blank” date. You can blame anything on covid. No one will question it. Plus, regardless of if your wedding is during the actual pandemic or not (hoping this will be gone soon), they don’t know that you don’t have financial struggles due to covid.

Ps: our wedding is October 3 of this year and we just found out we’re expecting ! March 11, 2021 🤪 good luck !

Aww congrats! Okay this is true. I will start looking for something to send out. I’ve still been in denial a bit.
