Postpone? August 15, 2020

Erin, on July 2, 2020 at 5:28 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18
I’m starting to really wonder if I should consider postponing my wedding on 8/15/2020. I don’t want everyone required to wear a mask and at the same time, I don’t want any of my family and/or friends getting sick because of my selfishness. My heart is so torn on what to do now. 🥺💔

Hi Erin, If it helps, I am August and moving forward. If you are not located in a hot spot, it could work. I’m taking all precautions and we sent our invitations out today 🥰 I don’t think it is selfish at all to want to get married this year so please don’t beat yourself up. If you are uncomfortable, and postponing is an option, I don’t want to talk you out of it. My heart goes out to you. I know it’s confusing ❤️

As long as you are in a low risk area and you can just have masks optional. If someone is uncomfortable or worried and they would like to wear a mask let them. It’s more about you and your guests comfort level with everything. If you are going to postpone I would do so ASAP so you aren’t giving your guests and vendors such short notice. Good luck girl, I feel for you.

I understand what you are feeling. In my honest opinion, masks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon if we postpone to next year. Just sucks all
    around.

This is actually a really, really good point. I’m going through with it now. Thank you for making me realize this may end up being way longer than expected. I’d be so upset if I postponed it only to be in the same situation!

Yes it is a serious possibility. I postponed my June wedding and my venue and vendors were open. We were in Phase 2 by then at 50% capacity which was 150 guests allowed. Talk about depressed. I would have only had to cut 20 people but probably not as some would have declined. Oh well. Won’t be doing that again. We are going through with September no matter what. Good luck to you!

We had to postpone our May 17 th wedding this year to Sept 19 and now we’re considering just canceling and possibly having a mini ceremony with a “second wedding” on our one or two year anniversary depending on Covid. We’re not in a hot spot but almost all our guests are flying in from CA/NY so if you’re having a small gathering with people nearby then I feel like it should be okay but masks are probably going to be important, in my opinion, just because I’d don’t think you should have to worry about love ones possibly getting sick from attending. You can even order fancy masks made for weddings that look pretty cool 😅 This year is just really sucky for weddings I’m sorry you’re having to go through this too!

I’m moving forward with August 14th. Some days I feel like a crazy person for it, but we are both 37 and do not want the wedding hanging over us for another year. We have so much money tied up into it, and we are just ready to move on to the next chapter! Our friends and family are being very supportive, and we are completely respectful of those who do not want to come. I agree with the others that we have no idea what next year will bring as well. We’re all kind of hanging in limbo. Best wishes to you in whatever you decide to do! You are not alone.

I can totally relate. Our date is August 16th in SoCal. Our venue had told us we had to postpone and we've been planning on that for the last month, then YESTERDAY (what?!?!) told us we can go through with our August 16th wedding... Mind blown. Especially considering restrictions are being implemented again. So, if we do it (still undecided but leaning towards going for it) everyone will have to wear masks. We already had a small guest list of 50, but cut it even further to 25. We don't want to wait another year, we've been together for 8 already. As long as you're safe, and they're comfortable with coming, I think it's fine. Smiley heart wishing you the best!!!

Yes we truly don’t know. In a years time it might get worse or it might get better. We just don’t know. I’m glad you had the option of going forward. My wedding was postponed to August 28th 2020 and we were just cancelled again. If I had to option to go through with it I would be apparently Nevada is taking some steps back

Thank you. It helps being around supportive brides and seeing we’re not all alone in this because sometimes it feels like “why me, why my wedding” then you stop and think it’s happening to hundreds and thousands of brides too

We were Oct 16, 2020 and postponed to 2021. I would check with your venue. We had a guest list of 150 and the venue will only allow max 50 which includes caters, bar, band etc in that number.

As of last week, we still do not have any restrictions and masks are optional. Cases have not been rising as much here so I’m hoping that pattern continues!

I am August 1 and going through with full capacity. I also had the same concern on being selfish, etc., but I also thought if people didn't feel comfortable or didn't want to attend, then they don't have to. Covid isn't going away anytime soon, so we have to take advantage of having the opportunity! Plus we have good friends that are going through with theirs 2 weeks after us in the same area, so that puts me at ease a bit! Hope it all goes well for you. Smiley smile Don't feel guilty -- enjoy your wedding!
