Posting hotel group rate on wedding website

Sarah, on July 10, 2015 at 2:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Those of you with wedding websites and hotel blocks. Did you post the group rate on the website? I feel like (as a guest) it’s nice to just have that info easily available without calling and asking, but is that tacky? (I don’t plan to print anything with the prices).

I haven't even booked my hotel yet (probably will this weekend) but I am curious so I can have my website ready to go when I mail out my save the dates! (with the url on there)

I don't think there's anything wrong with posting the group rate on the website. I did it too. It's just informative.

I posted it on there - I don't see anything wrong with that. I had a few guests that had a better business rate at another hotel so I think they appreciated the info up front!

Nothing wrong with. But also post the book by date. I found a lot of hotels only kept the block active and honored the group rate until a month before the event. Anything booked after was at the normal rate. Honestly, there wasn't that big of a savings.

I posted it because I wanted to make sure people were getting the rate that I had contracted for them. I could just see the hotel creeping up the rate if they don't know what they're supposed to be paying.

I included the discount rate before and after taxes for guests, as well as the code that they should use while booking their rooms. I wanted our guests to know in advance the cost, that way they can decide if they prefer to look around for a cheaper rate.

Yes on the website. That way people knew what they would be able to get and could shop around if needed.

I posted the rate, code, and book by date on our site. The rate I secured is almost half of what the rooms are going for now, so I'm really glad I got the block when I did.

I put almost anything and everything I could on our website! Registry, hotel info, weekend itinerary, wedding attire, etc.... Totally made use of it. Our website address was included on our STD and bottom of invite.

I had a reception "info" card inside our invitation sweet that I designed on WPD. It said something along the lines of... "please join us for dinner, cake, and dancing at the Hilton Garden Inn...blah blah blah." Then at the bottom I had info about the hotel block and I did put the price on there and contact number. I also put "For more information, including registry information, please visit www.etc"

From reading this thread I guess that might have been tacky, but I don't care. It's what worked the best for me and my guests. I have gotten a lot of compliments so far on the invitation suit. I feel like etiquette is hit and miss! I was so hyped up on it at first, but it just stressed me out! I have a lot of OOT guests and elderly guests and I just want to make the information easy and readily available for them. When people look back at your wedding, I assume they won't be talking about how you put hotel info on the invitation. Smiley smile
