Postcard style save the date

Katherine, on December 8, 2020 at 4:29 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
Hello! My Save The Date is in a form of a postcard and I'm including my wedding website which is password protected but I don't want to include the password on an open postcard...I was thinking of emailing the guest the website link and password the same day I mail the STDs or maybe using a scratch off sticker to cover the password on the STDs postcard... Any thoughts and/or suggestions

I love the idea of the post card Save the dates, however the last save the date I got like that, the brides face was smeared from the mail processing. The scratch off is a cute idea, though!

Oh no! I did think about putting them in an envelope as well with a smaller note card with wedding website link and password... I'm really in love with the postcard style Save The Date

I think the scratch off is a fine idea, but I also don’t think the postal workers have any interest in stealing your wedding website password.

I think the scratch off idea is your best option. I will warn you, post card style save the dates tend to get ruined during transit. I have received them ripped and with black marks all over them.

I actually decided against postcard STDs because I didn't want the date and location of my wedding going through the mail. Not necessarily because of postal workers, but we have had our mail stolen before, and if there is an STD in there with a date and location it's an easy way to know when the homeowner won't be home. I would spring for the card style ones for that reason, as well as the cards getting destroyed.

The mail is generally not kind to postcards or any mail really complete with smearing, but envelopes and boxes suffer less damage. With sending something password protected, just put it in an envelope to protect from potential mail theft. Or go the digital route with something like paperlesspost.com

Thanks for feedback and suggestions, I may just put it in envelope to prevent damage and keep the information protected.

In your case, I would put your wedding website password on the postcard if that's the style you really want, but mail the postcards out in envelopes. This way, you'll have the privacy of keeping your passcode safe, and you'll protect the postcards from getting ruined in the mail. Nearly every postcard save the date I've received in the mail has arrived ripped or dirty, so this would insure they stay safe!

Just use an envelope to be safe. That’s what I did with our postcard style STDs. Our change-the-date cards are going in envelopes as well. I don’t like the idea of my wedding information (names, date, location, etc) being out in the open.
