Postcard Stds??

Kate, on June 5, 2019 at 9:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

I am currently deciding between sending postcard save-the-dates and ones in an envelope.

Is is worth the savings to send postcards? I've heard they get kind of torn up in the mail, but I mean I'm not sure I care if I'm saving $$...

Also if you printed them yourself, what paper did you get them printed on? (ex: white 100lb?)

The one postcard STD that I received was beautiful and I think very sentimental. However, it did get all messed up in the mail. Not only did it get wet, but it tore some. Other than that I thought it was different and nice! Fo for it and hope for the best. I'm sure they'll be just fine.

We did postcard STD and we loved it. Yes they get a little messed up in the mail but people know that can happen and it’s not the formal invite so it didn’t bother me! It saved a ton of money!

I saved about $100 using postcards STD instead of traditional. But I also didn't have photos on mine. To me, saving the money is worth it.

I really wanted to do postcards to save money and because I think they are a little more unique than a standard card. I ended up going with a regular 5x7 though. The picture we used was beautiful and I didn’t want it to get messed up in the mail. We’re also having a formal event and I felt they were more appropriate.

We did postcards from Vistaprint, with a glossy front. They didn't get torn up in the mail, but the glossy side did have some issues with light-ish smearing (must have been when they were processed). I'd pretty highly recommend them for affordability between the card itself and postage, but I wouldn't pay for a glossy finish.

We sent postcard save the dates. Since sending I have seen quite a few of them on friends fridges etc. none of them looked torn up at all . I think as long as you use decently thick paper they should be fine .

For a save the date I think it is totally worth the saved money since it isn't the formal invite! As long as the date is legible and the location/city I think they are totally fine!

I received a post card save the date - it did get a bit torn up in the mail, but the information was visible. If you do use the post card I would suggest going to the post office when mailing them out and asking them to hand stamp them, because the post office lines created black lines through the peoples faces.

I think a post card could work. I made my save the dates through Walgreens, and they included envelopes. I don’t know what price range you are considering, but I only spent $50. Walgreens has some pretty good options. Might be worth a look.

I did postcard save the dates, I didn't hear of any issues. I did it through Vistaprint and saved a ton of money. Just did my invitations through Vistaprint, as well. I like how you can really make them yours versus the templates.

Thanks for the recommendation on Vista Print! We were looking at doing postcards, but wanted to do a glossy finish. Did you send them your finished layout and images? or did they have templates for you?

I sent my RSVPs as postcards because the postage for them is cheaper aha. The only caveat is people would see your RSVPs or save the dates if it's a postcard compared to if it's sealed in an envelope so it's up to you to decide if the privacy of that is worth the extra costs of stamps
