post wedding reception for out-of-state guests

Andrea, on April 9, 2013 at 7:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

We live in Minnesota but our daughter is getting married in another state. We are thinking of having a post-wedding reception here, but I'm not sure about the logistics. Does this information get included on the wedding invitation, or separately? Do you "guess" who would actually travel for the wedding and then only invite those who you think won't attend the ceremony to come to the reception at a later date? I can't find anything in the bridal books about this, but I'm sure lots of people have experiences they can share!

Does she WANT you to hold a post-wedding reception for her in a different state?

    That's my first question.

Is it something YOU want or is it something SHE wants

She wants it. I am thinking a desert reception.

Well I would say that it depends on if you want to invite all wedding guests or just specific people.

Also, it may confuse people if you include it in the invitation and they are also invited to the one right after the wedding.

Sorry, but this is kind of an "off time" to be posting and so you may not get alotof responses. If no one else answers, I would say try again in the morning

You can do a separate invitation that people RSVP to for the dessert reception, that way people can respond separately
