Post covid guest list

Meaghan, on May 11, 2020 at 8:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Looking to find out what brides who have been effected by COVID are doing in preparation to reschedule? We were to have our wedding March 21, we were able to have a small ceremony but as we look to replan, I’m not sure how to handle the guest list.
Do I send a new invite to everyone that was sent an invitation originally?
Do I only re-invite those that had previously accepted?
Do I re-invite those that are local that originally declined due to a conflict with the date?
Thanks!!

We did a lot of courtesy invites the first time around to people who my parents have known for awhile who live across the country or in other countries. We also had all our RSVPs in and a lot of people didn't respond at all- yes or no. Those people we won't invite again.

Some said no that can now possibly come so we are still sending out to those (my friend just had a baby for example)

I think the best thing would be to resend invites to all who were sent one the first time around.

Hi Meaghan, I had to go through the same thing and quickly get the message out that my wedding was postponed. If you have a wedding website you can put the announcement on there. You could also send an email blast or a quick note. Ann’s bridal bargain’s has cheap “delay our date” cards that I used. I would send it to all the original guests if you can have that many guests because some may not be able to go that originally said no and vice versa. Either way it’s not an easy decision to do. Either way your guests will understand and this is not something anyone expected to happen. Have you picked a new date yet? I was supposed to get married on 5/8/2020 and rescheduled for 10/3/2020. I am really hoping I will be able to have a wedding then. I am in PA in one of the hardest hit areas in the state still in lockdown.

We were so close to out date and had to cancel the week of. We are looking at new dates now, but are hesitant as we live in NY. We are hopeful to have our reception in October or November.

Good idea. We had a lot of courtesy invites too that were mostly out of town and we won’t be resending those.

I think it would depend on when ur new date is. if its very far off in the future and u dont need to worry anymore then id invite everyone originally on the list
