Positives about Postponement!

Kat19, on March 24, 2020 at 12:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I'm seeing all over this forum about March, April & June brides who have had to reschedule (myself included)! I gave myself one day to feel sad and then I snapped out of it and went back into full-on planning mode to find a new date and contact all my vendors. Luckily, I was able to get a new date in October that worked with all my vendors. So brides, enough regret and sadness! What is one POSITIVE thing you can think of amid all this craziness?? GO!

1. More time to work on my arms! I was on my way and with the wedding just one month away, I secretly wished for more time to tighten up my bat wings (haha, arm flab). Now I get a 7-month head start, although I'm finding it hard not to emotionally eat all my quarantine snacks. I already altered my dress, so I just need to maintain my current weight. I think I can do it. No, I WILL DO IT! Michelle Obama arms, I'm coming for you!

2. I've got a fun new hashtag

3. More time to perfect details. I was deep in planning for the past 8 months. It consumed me. Now, I have more time (LOTS of time now with this shelter in place order)...but it won't feel rushed. And that feels great.

4. There was this special gift I waned to get my FH, but I ran out of time to complete it. Now I have time to do it and it'll be even more meaningful this time around.

5. I can EAT what I want!! I was meal-prepping everything before in anticipation of the big day, but now I have permission to eat whatever my heart desires (at least for the next couple of months). Ha.

    Mermaid hair. Growing it out.

Working out. I was gonna start working out... but I got so sick at the end of February that living was making it difficult to breathe, I didnt want to add in work outs.
At this point, everything but the timeline is planned. And I have 7 months to go.
More time to pay for it! I've bee. Wishing I could have saved more money... now [hopefully], I can get back to work and save more money.
Tweaks. There were certain things that I wish I would have tweaked. A timeline. Our venue gave us a cocktail hour for free, but I didnt know til 17 days before the wedding. Now I can add it to my invites.
Fall wedding. I wanted a fall wedding. I'm getting my fall wedding.

We haven't officially cancelled/postponed our May 16 wedding yet but it's looking that way. I've been super bummed the last week or so thinking about the disappointment of being in this position BUT I'm with you ladies trying to see the positives. I'm looking forward to:

    1. Knowing what our new date is (possibly spring 2021)
    2. Growing my hair out. I cut my hair really short last year not knowing I'd be engaged a month later. Now I have time to grow it out!
    3. More time to focus on working out, eating healthy and getting in the best shape of my life. I want to FEEL beautiful walking down that aisle!
    4. We got engaged 10/1/19 so we've only been planning this wedding for 7 months. We were torn between eloping and having a traditional wedding but since my FH is an only child with a huge family, we opted for a traditional ceremony and an "after party" instead of a reception for our destination wedding. Having our wedding moved out a year opens up our options to change our plans and do things a little differently this time around.
    5. Due to my short engagement, I didn't have time to alter my wedding dress the way I wanted to. I have the option now if I decide to.
    6. Last but not least, FH's and I relationship will be stronger because of this. When our day finally comes, we will CELEBRATE.
Hang in there ladies. We will get through this! ❤

My dress JUST fit after she took it in a 3rd time. Now I’m mad that my crazy must continue until my new August wedding date or my dress won’t fit! It’s a negative but I had to share since u are excited u get to eat and I’m the total opposite lol.
