Hello,

im curious if anyone has ever used portable misting fans at their wedding/reception before? Or has been to a wedding with them? If so, how hot was it? Did it make any difference? Thanks for any comments! Smiley smile

I attended an outdoor wedding last fall and it was unseasonably hot - 93 degrees. I brought my own misting fan and it didn't make much of a difference since the water in the bottle got warm quickly, so all I was doing was putting hot mist on my face. Also didn't care for being wet on top of being hot. If it's going to be that hot at your wedding, I suggest you move it inside.

If it's that hot that you think you might need them, you need to reevaluate having an indoor event instead. I couldn't imagine that your guests will be comfortable all dressed up getting misted with water.

If it’s hot enough outside to use misting fans, it’s too hot to be outside for a wedding. As a guest, I would feel gross being dressed up for an event and being sweaty enough to need a misting fan.

I would personally be a little annoyed if I spent time doing my hair and then water was misted onto it. My hair frizzes up pretty easily.

Ladies tend to like doing their hair and makeup, so it probably won't be a useful idea. Obviously, you cant predict your weather until about a week before, but you can try getting hand held fans or finding something to provide shade for your guests

As someone who's hair doesn't do great with humidity, I hate misting fans and would not be thrilled to have them at a wedding. Are there portable air conditioners or an indoor option you can look into instead?

Doesn't matter what time your ceremony is, if it's hot enough for you to think these might be necessary, it is too hot to expect guests to be outside sitting through it. No, it's not just for 20 minutes because your ceremony is "like, really short". People arrive early to be respectful to the bride's entrance. That means 15-30 minutes or more prior to the start time. Then they sit through the ceremony. Ceremonies may run long for whatever reason. So now you've expected your guests to sit outside in 80+degree heat and humidity for an hour or more because it's "your" day and that's what you want. Some of your guests might be pregnant, some might be elderly, some might have illnesses or health conditions. You need to be considerate of these kinds of things before forcing people to sit through these weather conditions. And if you're going to say, "well then they don't have to come to the ceremony!" then you shouldn't be extending an invite to them in the first place.
