Popcorn bar

Nisa, on March 5, 2018 at 11:22 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Has anyone done a popcorn bar, or anyone considering one? I thought it would be a cute idea to have as a wedding favor. The only wedding favors I've truly used were the food ones 😂 I also think it's cute because I'm "sweet" (the quotes are there for a reason) and have a huge sweet tooth, but my fiance loves salty things.

The prices and everything seem good, but unfortunately I'm not very creative! If anyone has done this, what toppings, mix-ins, etc have you used? And what container? We'll have enough for everyone to have two cups or more, but I would like to keep the container around 1 cup to 1.5 cups, so that food doesn't get wasted. I noticed that people will always fill a container up if you give them one, even if they don't eat the food. I don't have a problem with people using multiple if they really need to, though.

I want to stay away from the traditional looking popcorn boxes/bags, and get something a little nicer, but what? Instead of regular soda at our wedding, we will have bottled glass soda from a local place (Fitz's soda, shout out to fellow STL brides)! So do to the fact that we will have these cute soda bottles and popcorn, maybe I should go with a retro looking bag?

Thoughts/opinions? What are some flavors and toppings that you would want as a guest? Unique container ideas?

I've been to several weddings with popcorn bars. Many have used brown bags stamped with a wedding related monogram/stamp. I always like when they have several flavors of popcorn - butter, caramel, cinnamon, cheese. Mix ins have included M&Ms, nuts, different types of candy. Pinterest has a lot of different ideas for what to serve and how to serve.

What a great idea! I personally love kettle corn. I know there are gourmet shaker toppings you can get at the grocery store. (Different cheeses, ranch, cinnimon sugar, spicy etc) I believe Etsy has personalized popcorn bags if you wanted to go That route or you could look at a craft store and get inspired! Best of luck!

We did, we had 2 savory options and 2 sweet options. We used 2 gallon glass containers to store. Then ordered pop corn bags from Etsy, the bags closed. Several guests ate popcorn there but also took them home. Very reasonably cost for a "late night" snack,

I used vintage popcorn boxes for my recessional pompom toss and they were wicked cheap on Amazon! Some fun "normal" add ins would be chocolate covered pretzels, M&Ms, ranch powder, chocolate covered peanuts, and sprinkles.

Please have sriracha or hot sauce! I know so many people love this! My theater just started setting them out and everyone's pumped about it! I also love chili powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.

    Smoked salt is amazing too!

We are having a popcorn bar with popcorn from a local shop! We plan to keep it simple with 5 Flavors and no mix ins! We bought brown paper sacks and ordered a custom stamp from etsy and stamped each bag. We also bought five - 2 gallon glass cookie jars from Wal-Mart, one for each flavor!

Love this idea! I was thinking boxes might spill, and I wanted bags, but the price for a custom bag is more than I would like to spend on something that someone will throw away lol. Thanks for the tip.

I'm considering it. I'll only do 3 flavors though, cheese, butter, and caramel. I'm thinking about using large peach baskets with scoops so people can serve themselves. I know it will be messy but that's half the fun.

Exactly my thoughts! FH really liked 'pop it like it's hot' but there were several on etsy! Since it was such I minor detail I didn't fight it lol!

We're doing popcorn. We're doing just butter-and-salt but we're bringing in the popcorn machine itself which I'm super excited about. We're just using the classic red and white striped bags, but we also have kind of a film theme to our reception so it fits.
