Poll - 1st dance before or after dinner?

I will do it after they announce us. So before dinner.

This is how I originally read your post (because my eyes are screwy or my brain is)

Our DJ says he loves it when clients get all the special dances out of the way right when you enter the reception, then you do dinner and start partying. It really kick starts things instead of people sitting around awkwardly. The wedding I went to recently did all the dances right after they were introduced, and then people started drinking and dancing while dinner was being served... It was perfect and I've never danced so much in my life! It really kept the energy going.

Guess we are the minority because we had dinner first. We had a 6pm ceremony and then cocktail hour so it was late already. We had dinner and then the dancing and the other traditional wedding things were done and guests danced the rest of the night.

I prefer to do it after dinner, because it's too much of a "change" in mood... you are typically going from a high-energy grand-entrance song to a very slow song... then you break it up with dinner.. and the other formal dances seem "choppy" when you separate them.
