Pole Tent vs Sailcloth

Katie , on March 15, 2018 at 6:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

I'm in the middle of planning a tented wedding and am at the point where I am losing my mind about rentals. (Word to those thinking about doing a tent wedding - think long and hard about how much time and money you want to invest in it because it is not cheap or easy if you are planning alone)

Anyway I originally had my heart set on doing a 40 x 60 sail loth tent but the rental company my caterer prefers doesn't have one and told me they may drip water if it rains and leaves might fall on top and leave ugly dark shadows on the top. They are recommending a pole tent to get that sweeping effect I like. On one hand it is considerably cheaper cost and I wouldn't have to hire ANOTHER vendor and have more delivery/set up charges. BUT I'm worried I will regret it. I've seen some tents that feel very claustrophobic and I love how sail cloth tents are illuminated.

Anyone have experience with either tent? Any advice on what you liked or didn't like with each one?

I work for a tent rental company. Really either tent could drip because sometimes condensation will build in the tent and that’s what causes it (most of the time). It is possible that the material that that particular sailcloth tent is made out of is more porous though.
The sailcloth tent also has rounded corners and you’ll lose square footage and leave you with less space under the tent. If you go that route I’d make sure you can get a diagram of how everything wil be set up in the tent and make sure it fits to your liking.
We also usually suggest getting everything from one company. It’ll save money and the headache of coordinating delivery/pickup days and times (for example, rentals should be picked up before tent).
I feel like I’m not helping but if you called me at work that’s probably how I’d respond.

I know this may seem like an odd place to check. But contact your local funeral homes. We have a couple funeral homes where I am from that have white tents(it does have there name on it--advertising purposes) and they rent them out at little to no cost!! It's definitely worth checking out cause you never know and it would save a lot in money!!
