Point of contact

Steph, on July 25, 2019 at 8:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14
Who are you assigning as the point of contact on the wedding day? My FH wants to assign his brother/BM, but they won’t be at the venue until 2pm for our 4pm wedding. Some of the vendors will already be up there before them so I feel like calling ask questions of someone who isn’t there is kind of silly. Would it be crazy for me to be the point of contact, at least for the vendors?

Our point of contact will be our DOC. I would designate literally anyone but you and your groom. Could you ask a family member or someone that will be there getting ready with you the day of?

Our caterer kind of has a built in DOC that I suppose we could use. My mom is a florist and will be doing my flowers, but her friend will be setting up everything and I was thinking of asking her because she’s OCD like me, but FH was pretty set on his brother. I’ll see if he will be flexible or just assign different vendors different contacts.

I had. DOC but she was from the venue so I asked my friend who was our officiant to be her contact. She knew exactly what I wanted and was a great help that day. Trust me you will want somebody

We hired a Day of Coordinator, and she was our Point of Contact.

You will be so busy as it is on your wedding day. You don't need the stress of being the POC of your day as well. Hire a a day of coordinator, it is worth it. If you have a family friend or a family member who loves planning and is type A and they would love to do it, let them do it. But it should not be you, enjoy your special day, you've already done the work of planning.

We did not hire a DOC - absolutely didn't find a need for one. Our point of contact was one of two people: mom (because she volunteered) or my MOH.

We didnt have a DOC but I asked a friend not in the bridal party to help with set up and be our point of contact. I bought her a gift to thank her for her help because she will be a BIG part of the day!

Mine will be me. I'm a control freak and I want into know what is going on.
The only potential issue is that our party bus will be arriving 45 minutes after our ceremony start so we may still be greeting guests during our recessional. At which I will hand my MOH the phone before we start.

Our point of contact was our wedding coordinator. Seriously worth it - she made sure everything was smooth, the vendors knew what they needed to know, and I wasn't bugged by all and sundry while trying to get ready/get pictures/etc.

How about having these folks share in the point of contact duties? Your mom's friend and/or the built in DOC can handle things until brother/best man gets there. Then he can run the show, and have the ladies as his backup if he needs extra help.

Our venue has a coordinator, but if anyone needs anything they'll be directed to my parents.

My point of contact will be my DOC. She's, actually, my aunt, but she is a full-time event planner so I knew she'd be perfect for the job! Her daughter is one of my bridesmaids and her husband is one of our ministers so she was going to be at the venue early anyways.
