Pocket squares

andrea, on May 30, 2017 at 1:44 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

We went to men's warehouse yesterday and picked out tuxes. The groom and best man have different color ties but they both got white pocket squares along with the two dads? Is this right? One of my friends brought up that they shouldn't match? It's so simple but not sure this is right

My FH and the groomsmen all wore white pocket squares, while FH had a white tie and all others were navy. White looked great!!

We Grooms got grey tuxes and the groomsmen got navy blue tuxes. Our bow ties matched our suits so we got grey and groomsmen got navy blue.

We all got white pocket squares because we got boutonnieres (we got orange, groomsmen got white) and we all wanted the same pocket squares so they would at least match with the dress shirts. Choosing a different colour may throw it all off.

If you're doing boutonnières, then you can distinguish that way.

For us, the GMs, my dad and my brother all have identical pocket squares in silver. FH's will be white.

We're doing cohesive but not identical flowers for the guys.

I made our pocket squares because they were outrageously expensive for a stupid piece of cloth, but I'm doing the groomsmen in one color and the groom in another.

The groomsmen will be in dark gray suits with the light gray pocket square. Groom will be in a light gray suit with a darker gray pocket square Smiley smile

I don't think it matters. Like op said, white is pretty classic. However, you probably could change the pocket square for the groom to match his tie so this way he stands out a bit if you're not doing boutonnières. We're just doing a pocket square for FH, no boutonnière, and I'll have his tie and pocket square made from the extra material from my dress so it matches with me.

DH didn't wear anything differently to "stand out", everyone knew who the groom was Smiley smile All the groomsmen (and DH) wore black tuxes with black bow ties and a blush pink pocket square. The groom does not *have* to wear something different!

I think a white pocket square is really classic, and wouldn't vary the color in addition to varying the tie color!

I don't think it matters honestly! You can do this however you want. We chose to have FH with a pink pocket square and the other guys with white. Just our personal preference.

The pocket squares do not have to match the tie. White pocket squares are one of the most popular suit/tie color combinations. They work with almost all color combinations. Trust me they will look polished with a white pocket squares!
