Plus size dress in a few months?

Am I crazy to think I can get a dress in 4ish months time? Every place I've reached out to say it will take 4-6 months. Does anyone have advice or success stories on doing this? Being a big girl I don't think I will have a lot of luck buying off the rack.

I ordered my (not plus sized) dress of StillWhite and had it the same week. Lead time on the dress I liked most from the bridal boutique was nearly 8 months (about 3 months for the dress to come in and the rest for fitting and alterations). You can sometimes get lucky buying samples or off the rack, but it just depends, and the options in any one size at any one store are usually very limited.

I'm so happy with my dress from StillWhite but I did a lot of research before buying a dress offline. Designer sizes vary a lot, and the label size of wedding dresses is usually quite a bit different from street sizes. I'm usually a 6 street size but the sample dresses I tried on were 8s and 10s and the dress I ended up buying is a label size 12 and fit me without alterations, but only after I unintentionally lost 5 lbs. If you are buying online, I'd definitely read reviews, look at size charts, or get feedback on sizing from real people. It can be difficult to predict what label size will actually work on you because it varies so much from label to label. One of the reasons I really felt confident ordering from StillWhite is because I was able to compare my measurements to the measurements of the brides selling the dress for more accurate sizing. I ended up getting lucky!

Rush shipping might cost an extra penny, but my wedding was less than 6 mo away at the time of me purchasing my dress - So they recommended it. With my particular designer, Stella York, my dress will be arriving approximately 3 months after ordering it. Smiley smile I think it'll be tight, but it's do-able!

You're not crazy, but most places can't get a dress in for you within that time frame. Lots of designers dresses come from different countries and it takes time to get the dress to your shop. However, as others have suggested, you can buy a dress form stillwhite.com or maybe you can purchase a sample dress or dress from the floor?
