Well my wedding is in 10 days! It's crazy how fast time goes by. Well my wedding is in 10 days! It's crazy how fast time goes by. I am a plus-size, overweight, fat, full-figured, curvy (whatever term you fancy- no negative or derogatory comments please- about word choice) woman- I know this about myself. In my half-hearted attempts to lose weight and firm up- I have come to terms that that didn't happen- yes due to my own failure and am mostly ok with it. My concern is the many photos that will be taken- I have always hated the way I look in pictures- even when I was smaller. My question is- does any one have tips or tricks of the trade to get the best angles, shots, poses etc? Problem area that bother me the most are chin and upper arms. Thanks!

Tyra Banks said to stick your neck out when the camera is in front of you. I have done that a few times lol

I really dont think you should be worried about it. You will be so happy and I am sure it will show in your pics

I don't like how you talk about yourself.... If your fiancé wanted thinner he would have dated and chose a thinner woman... He wants a life with you and not only are you doubting yourself but you are doubting his choice to accept you. If you want to change yourself do it because you love yourself enough to make yourself happy

I'm bigger, too, so I understand your concern. But I didn't like being photographed when I was thin, either. I've just never felt comfortable in front of a camera.

But you know, whenever any bride posts her BAM photos, her size doesn't register with me. I see her beautiful face and gown and the love shining out and all I think is how lovely she looks. And that's how we'll see you, too.

As for the arms, you can keep your arms away from your sides when you pose if that bothers you.

Not sure what your arrangement is for editing with your photographer, but you can edit most of the things you're concerned about.

recently I was editing some pictures of me and my husband and he caught me giving us both a bit of a 'face lift' 0Smiley smile usually I prefer pictures being true to life, but I considered these 'selfies' and temptation and my vanity got the better of me Smiley winking

Lose the shallowness, be your beautiful self. Being a control freak about how to photograph you won't help the creative process with your photographer. Let them worry about the best angles and briefly let him or her know your concerns without obsessing over it. Allow yourself to enjoy the day.

I'm sure you'll be very excited and beautiful so it will really show through in your pics.

I get apphrendsive about pics too for a different issue, I don't want my eyes too look funny or crossed. So I usually lift my face up a bit higher (straighten the neck) I don't always look directly at the camera, and here's a oldie from my godmother who was an expert at photo poses--stand with one foot before the other, (one foot in front one slightly back) it elgonates the body and creates a more elegant pose. And smize!

I usually hate my photo taken being a "plus" sized girl. I found on my wedding day that I felt so beautiful, my girls were amazing and I got to marry my best friend. I actually found myself having fun with the photos. LOVE yourself beautiful.

You will look amazing. I have no doubt about that. Being a girl who is 340lbs. I still love my first wedding pics (ex) and I know I will love these too

Froggie, with all due respect, you're the one who used the words "fat" and "my own failure" when talking about yourself. When you said that people can be cruel on this site, I was truly surprised -- as was Richard (obviously). In response to him, you wrote, "I had asked the best exercises to get "wedding arms" and many people criticized my choice of words - so yes people can be cruel on here."

Many people? I just read your "Wedding Arms" thread -- the entire thing. Out of thirty comments, many of which took a lot of time and care to compose, one person wrote that the term "wedding arms" made her "vomity". She didn't say anything about anyone's body, just that she didn't like the term. One other poster said, "Me too", and then that poster went on to give you support.

You need to begin by getting out of your own head and stop inferring what nobody is implying. You will have everything you need to look radiant on your wedding day. However, an unhappy face and an inner voice that tells you that your photos will look bad are going to negate all of your beauty. Trust your photographer. If he/she is an experienced professional and an artist, you won't need to employ any tricks in the hope of fooling the camera. In fact, telling your photographer that you want to pose this way or that way because you read on a forum that it makes you look thinner -- well, that will probably be irritating to him/her. There are lots of pros to make you look your absolute best -- from gown consultants to MUAs/hairstylists, and of course, the photographer. Let them work their magic and enjoy the process.

ETA: AG2005 -- you are stunning. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous. Mandi -- your photos reflect total grace and femininity. Thanks for sharing, ladies.
