Plus size bride bra delimma.

Erin, on June 20, 2022 at 4:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 16
So I found my dress last weekend (picture attached) but here's the problem- I can't wear a bra with it. The picture I'm sharing I'm wearing my normal strapless bra but you can easily see it since the neck line is so low. The consultant said that underwires can be sewn in on alterations but now I'm freaking out because I've heard a bunch of people say that that's not actually possible. I've already bought the dress what do I do??? I've been trying to find bras with deep plunges but they don't come in fat people sizes. What's the solution? Do I need to take the hit and find another dress? Add a modesty panel (even tho I kind of like the neckline). I'm not exceedingly large chested, in fact my top is much smaller than my middle, but as a large woman I need support no question. What do I do??Plus size bride bra delimma. 1

Goodlines boob tape is fits up to an H cup. It works wonders.

Many people don’t realize or understand that cups that are sewn in do not provide lift and support if you are larger than a perky B cup who doesn’t need a bra to begin with. Strapless bras and low back bras don’t work for that same demographic.

I'm a 34H and a size 14. My seamstress was able to alter my dress so that I didn't have to wear a bra with it at all, and they held up all night. I would talk with your seamstress about your options.

I don't even know how one would tape up ones boobs in a dress like mind tbh. I've never worn anything I can't wear at least a strapless bra with before.

Your dress looks fantastic on you and I love your veil! I would try the boob tape… I got it as well and plan on using it with my dress, but unfortunately haven’t tried it yet. To be honest, I will probably Google YouTube videos for assistance. But similar to Michelle, I’ve heard great things! (Hopefully it works for both of us!)

Your dress is beautiful!!! I would talk to the seamstress first. They will have some ideas. They are professionals and you won't be the first plus size bride they've worked with. I plan on bringing my favorite bra with me to my first fitting and telling them they're more than welcome to cut it up if they want to put it in my dress.

I wouldn’t get another dress. That one looks so pretty on you. I had underwire and cups put into mine and the girls stayed in. Never tried the tape. It would be worth a try.

Definitely talk to a seamstress! The consultants generally know what they're talking about and know what can be done to each dress. If you don't get an answer you like from one seamstress, take the dress to another one until you do.

We have the same curves and I ran into this problem too. I did end up picking a gown that I can wear supportive undergarments in.

For that gown, see if a semi-sheer or lace piece can be sewn in to the neckline that does show the bra.
I will tell you I was also unable to find deep plunge bras/ corsets for us plus size girls.
Another option you could consider is boob tape like "Good Lines"

If you don't want to wear under garments, invest in some boob tape.

I think you have a few options. try out the misses kisses bra, have them sew in cups (my seamstress is sewing in push-up cups), or buy undergarments with the bra I saw some with a deep plunge I think it was Spanx and it was a strapless bodysuit

Miss kisses bra. Or just have it taken in to add more support
