Plus One Wording

ShakespeareBride, on October 20, 2016 at 9:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Yes I know it's early, but I am doing my own invitations and I wanted to get my girls thoughts and will be seeing them in November and not sure when I will again since we live far apart. If you are including plus ones in your invites and you don't know the person, i.e. random guest, how do you word it that they are welcome to bring someone but don't have too. I have friends who will see the plus one and think they have to find someone because it's offered. I would prefer to assume they would know they don't have too but I know my friends and family are quirky.

Address the envelope to "so and so and guest (if you'd like to bring one)"....totally kidding! Have more faith in your family and friends. You are obviously not forcing them to bring someone with them. If you are really concerned, talk to them (tho I suspect that will be awkward because see sentence before this one). This is not something that should or needs to be communicated on the invite.

I never see "plus Guest". It's always "and Guest."

And Guest. Then when you find the name of the guest you can put their name on the seating chart.

I put "and guest" and bec they don't write their guests name on the damn line of the RSVP, I've had to send fb messages and texts. Annoying.

Thanks ladies, I think I am just worrying over nothing. I've been doing that lately.
