Plus one bringing child?

Lexi, on May 14, 2019 at 12:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

We have a friend that we gave a plus one to just ask us if his plus one can bring her child. We have never even met this person and I really don't want her bringing her child considering we're only giving him 1 plus one not 2! How do we respond to him without sounding rude?

I would just say something along the lines of, "we cannot make changes to the guest list at this time and we only have seating for you and your guest, not you and 2 guests."

Are there going to be other kids at the wedding? If not you could also just explain that it's an adults only event.

"I apologize, we cannot accommodate any more guests."

I am sorry, but that will not be possible. The invitation is just for 1. . You do not have to give any reasons why, or justify anything. Smile and say it nicely, but do not give anyone anything they can argue about.

Yes, something like "I'm sorry but we only reserved two seats for you and one guest."

“Unfortunately we’re not able to accommodate any additional guests. We hope you and your guest are still able to make it, but please let us know if something changes” (or “we hope your guest is still able to attend but let us know...)
