Please tell me I'm not the first one to make this mistake

Samantha, on October 24, 2020 at 8:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 37
I ordered our wedding invites last night. I was super excited there was a sale code and free shipping. I saved over $220! However I made a rookie mistake that I almost made with the save the dates but I caught myself that time. I ordered the amount of invites, envelopes, and information cards for the full guest list, instead of taking couples into consideration. That means I ordered 60 more than I needed. I tried to modify or cancel the order but it's already too late. I'm sick that I wasted that money on unneeded invites. Future hubby is saying it's not a big deal. Just so mad at myself!

I’m sorry that happened, but on the bright side, u can save one for yourself, as a keepsake, and use some others incase they get lost in the mail or if u have a “B” list if too many people decline...

Thank you! And that's what I was thinking, and I'll have plenty of extra envelopes if I mess up writing the addresses! Hahaha

My best friend ordered 350 invites for her 350 person guest list. Safe to say I learned from her mistake lol.

Omg! that's a lot extra lol I did the math and since theres no coupon code today, it would only be $2 cheaper to reorder the amount I actually need. So for $2 i get all those bonus extras! Looks to be a deal when you view it that way hahaha

I did that with our save the dates, but I’m glad I did because some of them had really small printing errors and I had extra envelopes.

Yes, I’m certain it’s been done many times before. But I’m surprised that you weren’t able to cancel or modify it immediately afterward (when they sent the confirmation email).

I ordered them last night, and that was my first horrible thought waking up this morning. So it had been over 12 hours. They said generally it's within the first hour you have time to modify. Oops.

I did that with our save the dates! Luckily I realized it before ordering our invites. However, I realized yesterday when our invitations arrived that I did the RSVP cards wrong. Ugh!!! I needed to have included the welcome dinner, ceremony/reception and the day after brunch on the RSVP card because we need a count for those too. I only put the actual ceremony/reception. I’ll be reprinting those.
I also want to say to anyone that hasn’t ordered yet, pay attention to the price break on each item in your invitation suite. We have the invitations, RSVP cards, enclosure card, stickers, thank you notes, and then I did the favor tags twice for two different things. The price break on the favor tags was cheaper to order more than we actually need. I’m so glad I looked because it was like $8.00 cheaper for each set of favor tags to order 20 more than we needed! My FH was like “yeah I can screw up 20 of those!” LOL

Yes! I figure if this is the most expensive mistake I make during wedding planning then I'm happy with that haha.

Apparently I can't add to my original comment, but I will say it was helpful since I handwrote addresses. I didn't have to stress as much if I got one or two wrong or they just didn't look as nice since I had so many extras 😂😂

We I was first looking at websites for pricing I initially looked for 100 since we had 100 guests. Then it dawned on me, well before I had to order, I only need one for each couple and for each single person - so halfish!
