Playing games at bridal shower

Desiree, on April 30, 2017 at 8:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

We were discussing my bridal shower and the topic of games came up. Are shower games still played? If they are not played what else is done at the shower? I appreciate any input.

Hey! I'm the MOH for my SIL's and we are planning to do games. Things like jeopardy, find the guest, minute to win it stuff. She has a huge shower of like 70+ people so we don't want people to be bored. If you're having something more intimate, you could always have photos and other nostalgic things in the room and depending if you have entertainment already, you don't need to play games. It really depends on body count and what everyone is like and the bride to be. My SIL loves escape the rooms and games so it fits

We played games at mine, it was really fun. We did the best dress made out of toilet paper. We had one where you put on a ring and if you say wedding or bride somebody takes it and whoever had the most won. The last one was pin the mustache on the guy, since we had kids there.

Two of my Mom's friends are doing a shower for me. They just asked and started planning and they are so excited. They wanted to know about games and which ones I wanted. I am not a fan-- I just do not want all that spotlight. I like the more social event, maybe one game everyone is in that is not centered around me, primarily. That is just me thought.

My sister set up this game where she asked H questions, then I had to guess his answers. If I got it wrong, I had to chew a piece of gum, and add a piece for every question I got wrong. It was funny and I ended up with a huge wad of gum. He changed some of his answers on purpose at her request! Everyone was laughing.

We did simple games for my bffs bridal shower. Guess how many Kisses in the jar and match the disney love song to the movie couple. It was mostly eating and talking lol She isn't one for the spotlight.

All the showers I've been too have the "what in your purse" game - i always lose because i don't carry a purse but i am always entertained by stuff people carry in their purses

I've never been to a shower that didn't have games, and I've been to several. Games are fun, and they are especially conversation starters for people who don't know each other very well.

My bridal shower was today, and they played gift bingo and had a lot of fun doing it. Quite a bit of people won prizes. We also had "advice for the bride" cards. You definitely don't have to play a ton of games as it can get a bit excessive and takes time from mingling, but one or two would be good.

I always like the Bingo game and it helps people pay attention to you and the gifts you're opening.

The games at my shower were Family Feud (questions about me and FH), there was a contest to see who made the best wedding dress with ribbon and toilet paper, and lastly, the guests had to guess what I had on ( I stepped out of the room for a few minutes).

UO, apparently, but I hate shower games. They make me cringe! So corny/tacky. Sorry, I will never think making a dress out of toilet paper as a fun activity.

I believe we are doing bingo and a prize for whoever found a card under their chair

I love shower games! But the one I love most is bingo. As a guest, I truly don't care at all about watching gifts being opened so the gift bingo helps pass the time

My mom has been looking at games online, trivia type about me and FH. @bemyguest, that sounds so fun!

I originally wasn't sure about games, but my mom talked me into it.

Yes we only did a couple! We did the toilet paper dresses and we also did bridal bingo as I was opening presents. My mom also did something cute for my FH and I to read later. As I opened presents she wrote down things I said like "it's so shiny!" Or "so I can't break it?" And then FH and I read everything she wrote but you think of the comments in terms of the wedding night Smiley winking lol we laughed so hard! It wasn't a game at the shower but it was fun later!

As you can see, you're answers will be all over the place. For some, games are cringe-worthy while others find them delightful. You have to know your crowd. Frankly, if someone is bored at a 4 hour party where there's drinking and a full meal, they're probably boring. Have games if you think the bride and the party will enjoy it, not because you think you must provide entertainment.

I begged my MOH not to have any games but I think she is doing one anyway so I'll just roll with it.

I just had my shower this past Sunday! We did the toilet paper dress game, the newlywed game and the shoe game. Everyone loved them! We had such a great time

The last shower I went to had one game. I hate games so I was happy. Everyone got a list and had to dig through their purse to find items on the list. Person with the most items checked off won. A shower is a party. Not every party has games and everyone has a great time regardless. I don't think adults need to be entertained. They eat drink and socialize.
