Plates, chargers, placemats?

We're doing a buffet style for dinner. Plates will be at the beginning of the buffett line. Is it necessary for me to have a charger or placemat? Or can I just have the napkin and silverware as a makeshift plate holder?

Definitely not necessary! Chargers are visually beautiful, but really not needed! The only reason we will be having them is due to our venue providing them!

They are not necessary. It is a personal preference type thing.

We r having a buffet dinner and no we r not using chargers or placemats. The pictures above r great examples of ideas we have. Probably just gonna fold the napkins in a prettty way and call it a day.
