Plated dinner options

Sierra, on March 3, 2020 at 11:33 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

I need help choosing entrees for my wedding. I am setting the menu tomorrow so I need to decide.
We are trying to save money on food costs and are doing an open bar. We are doing a plated dinner since we have older relatives coming and so we can have more menu options.I have decided on chicken in a beurre blanc sauce and eggplant parmesan as two of the options. For the 3rd option we can do either herb de province pork tenderloin or pistachio crusted salmon. The salmon is $5 more person but not sure if I should have a fish option, and if pork and chicken are too similar. Any thoughts? How many people do you think would choose salmon?

I would personally choose salmon as it sounds really good aha but I think If you’re trying to save $ on food costs then just don’t get the salmon, the pork sounds good too

I'd do pork personally but I hate fish. I'm also from Texas and our crowd would definitely gravitate more toward the pork.

I was going to say I think this is a know your crowd choice. We live in California and virtually everyone we know eats & enjoys seafood, so we'd definitely choose salmon. But, we have friends and family in the midwest who are suspect of any fish except possibly that served at a Lenten "Fish Fry," so for them, it would be pork.... (Personally, I would find chicken and pork pretty similar.) I don't think there is a "bad" choice though!

I agree with MOB So Cal. I too live in California and most of my friends and guests would gravitate toward salmon, so that's what were doing as one of the options at my wedding. But, it's totally up to what you think your guest would like better.

I would personally like to have a fish option at my wedding, but I totally understand trying to save money, so going for the pork might be the better option. Also, it's a know your crowd type thing, and the only thing concerning about the salmon for me is food allergies. I work in a restaurant, so I can't help but think that way! What does your fiancé think?

Fish has the potential to be polarizing but many people enjoy salmon. Some people cannot eat pork in any fashion due to religious/cultural reasons.

As long as no one has nut allergies (pistachios), you should be fine. Otherwise ask if they can do a simple lemon or herbed butter instead.
