Plate or Buffet

Ciara, on January 14, 2021 at 1:14 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
I’m curious if everyone is doing plated meals served individually at each table or doing buffet? With covid I’d like to know how meals are being handled

Hi Ciara, our wedding during covid was plated. Our venue actually requires it during covid and we were pleased with the plated. Our venue also required any edible favors to be individually wrapped for guests. Our guests were very happy these precautions were in place and seemed to ease all minds (ours and our guests!). Hope this helps!! 🌸

You can do buffet. I have gone to buffets in my state and the rules is that guests are masked and either use hand sanitizer before starting or wear gloves.

We've chosen to do a plated dinner meal.

We are doing buffet. We have quite a few picky eaters in our family (my fiancé included) so we wanted people to be able to choose food they’ll actually eat vs. give them a plated meal and possibly have it go to waste. During covid, our venue has a server for each dish and you hold your own plate. So some places are making it possible to do buffet if you prefer it.

We're doing buffet because we like that style better and that it's more casual feeling. If you go that route, I suggest asking your caterer if they will have staff at each station to serve the food as well as wearing masks and gloves for safety precautions!

Before covid, we were planning on having a buffet, but decided to switch to plated to make everyone feel comfortable.
