Plastic wine glasses/bar cups

Monica, on July 5, 2019 at 5:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8

Im trying to shop around and do some research on which plastic drink ware would work best. The plan is to have "fancy" plastic plates, silverware and cups as well. Im not too worried about the cups for mixed drinks because I will most likely just buy hard plastic cups for those from costco or somewhere similar.

What im having trouble with is finding plastic wine glasses. I have read old forums and tried looking at different websites and figuring out prices but I feel kinda lost because in general all plastic wine glasses are all crap lol. I definitely do NOT want the 2 piece plastic wine glasses where the bottom kinda screws on to the top. I have thought about stemless plastic and one piece plastic glasses. I found some really pretty looking glasses from smartyhadaparty, but they will be kind of expensive. The cheapest I have found are from webstaurantstore.

What do you guys think about these? 8oz plastic wine glasses (<< link) Even though the wedding wont be super fancy, Im trying to be at least a little bit fancy. I also thought about maybe using the fancy glasses just for the table & have the rest of them at the bar will just be regular cups. My reception hall is kinda blah, but Im really good at decorating so Im sure I can spruce it up, there will be a self serve buffet, plastic plates and silverware as mentioned so its def not formal. Part of me thinks I should just go with stemless that way its more of a cup and might look a little less cheap. Renting will be cheaper but I REFUSEEEE to wash dishes/silverware/glassware before returning them ( Me and my family are doing everything ourselves, and the caterer will only provide food only). I can imagine me and my family cleaning up the hall and washing 150 salad plates, dinner plates, forks, spoons, knives & such.

Anyone have any recommendations for plastic cups/glasses?

I think those glasses are fine, but I also don't think that you need specific wine glasses. I'm all for ordering all of the same cups in one size and just having the bartender fill them accordingly. It's way too difficult to guestimate how many different sized cups you'll need for beer, mixed drinks, or wine. If they're all the same size, you don't have to worry about running out of one and having too many of another. Anyway...if you specifically want wine glasses, those look decent!

Good point, and thanks. I think I dont really care about the cups for beers and mixed drinks, those forsure will use the same size/type of cup. Its only the wine glasses that make me feel kind of picky.

My bar service requires 9oz cups (for wine), 12 oz for mixed drinks and optional 16oz for beer. I've bartenders at a lot of private events and holiday parties and weddings and if we are bringing the stuff wine is always served in a 9oz cup.

So I decided on plastic 12oz stemless wine glasses from webstaurantstore.com but now my question is: is a 12oz wine glass too big since the typical serving is 5-6oz? Would a larger glass encourage people to want a larger pour? (the 12oz is my cheapest option so far and looks pretty decent for plastic, the next size down would be 10oz (which is the shape of a champagne flute) or 4oz for wine glass shape)

I am also in the market and would love some advice. Looking for plastic tumblers that look nice for liquor and wine.

I think this is all you need for liquor and wine. Do not serve beer in a plastic cup, it really alters the taste.
