Plastic vs metal comb in veil

Misty, on April 25, 2018 at 9:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I’m torn between a plastic comb (which I hear stays in your hair better) or a metal comb (which is more durable) for my veil. What did you ladies do and how well did it work out?

You mean the comb that your veil attaches with? Or a separate comb hairpiece? My veil came attached to a plastic comb, I didn't think twice about it, and wasn't given an option for a metal comb. I think plastic is standard, I don't recall ever seeing veils with metal combs attached to them. It stayed in place just fine, and I wore my hair down, so no updo for it to grip to.

My veil came with a metal comb already on it. A little trick to make it stay better: ask your hairdresser to put one or two little elastic ponytails hidden in your hair. This will give the veil more to hold onto and keep it more secure.

The comb that attaches to the veil. My veil is being made and I have the choice of a metal comb (what she typically uses) or a plastic comb🤷🏼‍♀️

That’s a great idea.... my concern with the metal comb was weight dragging the veil down and not staying in my hair. My hairdresser says I have a ton of hair, but thin strands if that makes sense🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m not sure about plastic not being durable.

I just tried on my grandmothers veil and it srill had still had the original plastic comb and it was still in great condition.

Ok, that makes me feel better! I am leaning towards plastic because I think it’ll hold better in my hair.

I'm a dancer and we always sew plastic combs into our dance veils (which can be quite heavy). They stay on securely throughout an entire show.

I will be sewing plastic combs into my wedding veil too. I'd rather have less metal sticking into my head lol (too many bobby pins).

My veil has a gold metal comb and it's super light, I'm not at all worried about it coming out
