Plastic or Real dinnerware?

Jess, on January 8, 2020 at 4:19 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

Hello! My FH and I are trying to decide between plastic and real dinnerware for our reception meal and I would love some help deciding! We've already decided on a buffet for dinner and our vibe is going for vintage elegance. Plastic would save a lot of money since we are already close to our budget limit, but real dinnerware and linens would really complete my dream reception. Any suggestions?

If you are wanting an elegant vibe and the wedding is more formal, I'd go with real. If it's more casual, I think plastic is fine.

We're doing hard plastic and we're having a semi-formal wedding. The ones I bought from Amazon look great and they were way more affordable than having real dishes. The only way you can tell they aren't real is by the weight. And with a buffet, I wouldn't want people loading up an already heavy plate with heavy food, especially for our older guests. I also just like that there's minimal clean up since everyone can just throw them away. Here's the link to the ones we got!

We did real with a buffet and it was stunning. Worth the money to me.

Look on Facebook marketplace for people who bought their formal dinner wear and are now selling it. You can get it for the same price or cheaper than rental and then sell it after.

For a “vintage elegance” theme, I would go with real dinnerware. Plastic dinnerware isn’t what I would consider elegant.

It's whatever you want! Nothing wrong with using plastic.

I agree with the people that said , if you're going for elegance, real plates all the way.
