That’s plenty of time! I’d start with setting your budget, deciding around how many guests you’ll invite, then find a venue and date! Once you have that you can start planning other stuff

Okay good! A lot of people have told me 2 years. My fiancé doesn’t even want to wait one year lol! It’s hard to pick where because he’s completely up for just going to a court house, I am to but I want my dream wedding 😭

I guess it depends on your location with how far out vendors book but I think 1 year plenty of time. We had 13 months, we got everything booked within the first month and then it was just suchhh a long wait to get to around the 3 month mark when we started to have stuff to do again. You can always do a courthouse ceremony then just have a reception!

You don't have a date until you have a venue, imo. Unless the date is so important to you that you will have the wedding anywhere to secure it. I'd start by coming up with a budget, a guest list and then look for venues. You're guest list doesn't have to be concrete but it doesn't do you any good to get hooked on a venue that doesn't work for your guest count. Also, discuss with your FH what you're both looking for in a wedding. Congrats and happy planning!

This. And a year should be plenty of time, unless it's going to be during wedding season in a popular area. Work with your FH and anyone else who is contributing money to come up with a budget, rough idea of how many guests you want (50? 100? 200+?), what you're looking for in a wedding (formal/casual? afternoon/evening/brunch? weekend/weekday?) find a venue, and secure a date. Then, find a planning timeline (on this site, pinterest, pretty much anywhere) and start from there!

That is plenty of time. I had 1 year and 1 month to plan mine; and to be honest, I didn't do most of it until 5 months out. I am a month and a half away now, and am getting all of the "little things" done: decorations, timeline, ceremony details, seating chart, venue layout, etc.

Yeah that makes sense! And that’s not to bad, the waiting process would be a lot! And yes that’s true. I didn’t think of that!

That's mainly for budget. The longer the engagement, the longer you have to pay for things. Do you have children? If so, then put that big ol' tax return towards paying your vendors...that's what I did, lol. We got engaged in May 2018, and the only things we did before January 2019 was: bought dress, booked venue, booked photographer, booked videographer, made our guest list, and sent save the dates. During January and February, I booked the rest of our vendors and did bridesmaid dresses. When I got my tax return, I paid all of the vendors the remainder of what I owed. I didn't really do much of any planning in March and April except invitations. Now that May is here, we are finishing up all of the other things. Our wedding is June 29th.

As other posters have said, you're totally fine. Also, as others said, the main thing is to figure out a budget, write out a tentative guest list so you have a headcount (you don't want to book a venue with max 100 guests if you're inviting 150!), and then start looking for venues. My priority was getting all the vendors that needed to be there day of first (venue, photographer, dj), and then worked from there. I had a year and 3 months. I just picked 1 thing on the to-do list (I like the one through The Knot. WW has one too) and just kept checking boxes. Now I'm 2 months out and twiddling my thumbs as I wait for my RSVPs to come back because all I've got left is the table assignments.

That's plenty of time! Depends how picky or not picky and how much you want to shop around for prices for vendors to truly say how long that process will take. It took me 6 months to complete booking vendors (which might be long idk) and now I have moved on to other planning like decor buying, hair and makeup trials, bachelorette and honeymoon planning. Definitely the easier stuff haha.
