Planning Stress Management

Tonie, on October 24, 2019 at 1:01 PM Posted in Planning 1 9
How do you ladies keep the stress of planning your magical day down to a minimal while maintaining normal business? We own a thriving business, we are building our home, selling two homes, and the wedding plans are breath of fresh air, but I can’t seem to pick a venue and that makes it difficult to to decide on everything else. I feel the pressure of expectations versus what we feel comfortable doing.

You have to listen to your heart and what you are comfortable doing! If you plan a wedding based on other's expectations, you won't be completely happy with how it turns out!

Focus on what you want for your wedding rather than other people's idea of what your wedding should be. I know that is easier said than done. I found it easier not to talk about certain things with certain people because I knew they would have an opinion I didn't feel like dealing with.

Thank you. Great idea to be a little more secretive about the planning! Great help! That will also help build excitement all the way up to the big day!

I haven’t played anything since Tomb Raider and Resident Evil, I have two sons that encouraged game play. I am sure it is a masterful stress reliever!

I have adjusted my expectations. I know this wedding day is a big deal for me personally, but it may not be such a big deal for everyone else in my life. I don't have a bridal party, I ordered my dress online by myself to my own tastes, my FH and I discussed our own vision for our wedding and set a budget and decided to pay for it ourselves so we don't have to consult with anyone. Basically we answer to no one, we are happy to have those who are willing and able to show up come to our wedding, we wish the best to those who can't attend, and we are only doing the things we absolutely love and tossing the rest. We are minimizing the amount of outside involvement there is, and frankly, people can like it or not, but it's our wedding. It's our day, we're paying for it, even if we're the only two people who show up, so be it. Weddings seem so over the top anymore, we decided if there's something causing us stress, we just won't do it. Hence, no welcome bags at the hotel, no bouquet/garter toss, no lavish DIY projects that we can't possibly complete or massive bills we cant pay off, we will hire what we can afford, and let the chips fall where they may.
