First of all don’t freak out because you have time. I planned my entire wedding in 11 weeks. First thing you need to do is create a budget and then look for a venue. Start creating your guest list so you know how big of a wedding you will have. This website has lots of great tools and tips to help you along the way and we are all here to help if we can. Good luck.

    Hi Nina,

Congratulations! First thing is figure your approximate budget, the find your venue and photographer, because these two things are often booked 2 years in advance, so that needs your attention first, food doesn't need to be decided right away, but you need to inquire about your per person cost so that you can figure that into your projected budget, consider what you want to spend on your dress, are you wearing it throughout the reception, or are you getting a second 👗 I am, my wedding dress is from Stella York, style 6979 if you care to Google it, and my second dress is from jjshouse, style 105912, this is where I'm getting my bridesmaids dresses, same style as my second dress, bridesmaids in lilac, and I'm wearing lavender, depending on were your reception is, you may be able to find all inclusive packages which would provide DJ, Photographer, etc. so check into that!! Good luck!

You're fine! I started planning my wedding a year before our date, and honestly always wished we had less time lol. We started planning mid-May, and by August I was like "ok I'm ready to get married now" hahaha. You got this!

Start with a budget. How much can you reasonably afford to spend? Then list out your priorities. Usually best to pick a top 3 (like, photography, food, DJ for example) and those will be the things that you can splurge on. The rest you have to try to be more reasonable. Then make a tentative guest list (so you know about what size wedding you'll want... like whether it's closer to 20, 50, 100, 300, etc.) and start looking for a venue.

    Good luck!

No worries! I am in 11.

Start with a budget - look for venues, dress and photographer. Then start picking your other vendors. If you stress easily I suggest a planner - and write what things you would like to focus on each month from this app planner and theknot.com planner. You can do it and still have fun. Don't sweat it!

Hi! I got engaged in August. Wedding is in March and it's been planned for a couple months. I really didn't think it was that difficult. I read a lot of reviews on this page as well as The Knot. Also - I got a lot of ideas from this forum. I did a lot of planning over email and my venue had recommendations. Take their recommendations :-). They know who is good!

For us...first priority to book was venue. 2nd priority was the DJ (because we want to have a huge fun party). Everything else fell into place. Get reviews and use recommendations. Don't interview a ton of vendors...just book the ones that come recommended. Trust that other brides have done this work for you. Oh, and I bought my dress online at Azazie. Very nice and affordable and it fits perfect (they custom size). They let you try on 3 dresses at home for $45. Trust me, the money you save will be worth it.

    Congratulations!

Hey, you can do it! Engaged in July, wedding in May. Just about 10 months as well.

First off, decide on your budget and how many guests you will think you will have. Have an idea of the type of food you think you might want when looking at venues as some may have required or preferred caterers. Food & drink will be the most expensive part of the wedding. Someone mentioned that most venues and photographers are booked 2 years in advance -- we had multiple options for both so I would say that thought really depends on your location.

Also, check out a bridal show to see examples of potential vendors work. We went to one and found our photographer, cake lady, travel agent, and veil lady.

Since you don't have much time, I would recommend figuring out what style of dress you may want and getting it sooner rather than later. Otherwise, some shops may not be able to order the dress so that it will arrive in time for any needed alterations before your wedding day.
