Planning for 16 months....

Is planning for 16 months excessive? Our wedding is not until May 2016 but we already have the venue, caterer, dj, and photographer we want. Booking our venue on Tuesday. Are we taking this too fast?

20 months out. I've had people tell me "That's so far out!" "That's almost two years!" "Why such a long time?"

I have friends who attended a bible college and I swear the rule was meet and marry in the same year. And it shows. It's rushed and you don't get to have exactly what you want because dates are taken so far in advance. I'd rather get all the major things planned and out of the way so I can enjoy it more.

I'm doing the same thing! I got engaged in November and still haven't booked any vendors. We're shooting for July 2016 and we want to have at least our venue booked no later than the end of March (hopefully sooner!). After that we'll move onto music, photography, catering, etc. I think we'll leave all the small details for later this year.

Our engagement is 17 months and we wanted to get the big stuff out of the way before prices went up. We booked our venue, photographer, and caterer. We'll be booking the DJ, bartender, and hotel in February. I even have my dress Smiley smile It's the little things I worry about changing my mind about (decor, flowers, etc.), everything else is what we've always wanted.

I started planning about 15-16mos prior as well and let me tell you, time is flying by!! Lol I did take a break though for a few months. Once you have all major vendors booked the waiting period will begin. I can't freakin wait!

ETA: I changed my mind a few times on my colors and BMs dresses lol
