Planning a wedding in 6-7 months. Tips?

Rachel, on December 30, 2018 at 8:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
I’m not engaged yet, but in a few months, we will be. We are going to have a 6/7ish month engagement. Does anybody have any tips of planning a wedding in such a short amount of time?

Just be organized! I got engaged and had 6 months to plan so I did the big things first. I was able to plan my wedding in a month and not compromise on my dream vision. First off, find your venue and pick your date. It helps to make a mock list of guests before you look for venues because some places may not accommodate a large group. Also set a budget with your FH and try to stick to it. Once that big one is booked then move on to vendors, most places are booked quite a while in advance so just have some patience. In the end remind yourself that the most important thing is that you get to marry the love of your life. Good luck!

I planned mine in 9 months. Budget budget budget. Stick to it and it will be ok. Write everything down. Me and my FH have been paying off things as we go and it has helped so much.

I planned my wedding in 7 months and found that to definitely be enough time. I would just very quickly get your budget and guest list in order and secure your venue. Then send out STDs if you plan on doing that. I would also find a dress quickly as some take months to come in. Then work on photographer, officiant, etc. You just need to be very organized and move quickly (definitely in the first month of planning). Good Luck!

It’s definitely possible but you’ll have to be flexible on your date and vendors and even your dress. I planned ours in a year and there were still some vendors I contacted who were booked on our date.

Are you opposed to contacting vendors now and getting stuff set up? Like your venue and your photographer?

Set your budget and guest list now and start contacting venues you’re interested in to see what they have available.

I would definitely not be opposed to it if we weren’t 18 & 19 hahah. People might think we are like crazy or something. Also, not sure how my parents would feel about that.

Try to find a venue that is mostly all inclusive if possible! Someplace that takes care of the catering, decor, alcohol, DJ, etc. My venue takes care of everything but the flowers, including photography! I could've done the wedding in 6 months, but I wanted a little more time to lose weight and enjoy the holidays. I got engaged at end of Oct 2018 and the wedding is in Nov 2019.

What season was your wedding? We are doing a winter wedding so I’m hoping that having it in the middle of the winter will help out with vendors being open.

Mine was in October. It could help some having a winter wedding but it just depends on your area! A lot of places book up year round. You won’t know until you start contacting vendors.

I am planning mine in 6 months, id say to be organized and have clear idea of what you want for your day. Also do not feel like you have to compromise on anything if it is not want you and your fh want. If you have a plan, the actually planning for the wedding will be easier instead of stressing about trying to figure out every detail its really just about booking the vendors and executing the plan.

I would just start saving as much as you can now! My FH was saving for about six months before he actually proposed bc he knew I would want to get married soon, we're having about an 8 month engagement! So just save as much as you can and maybe start a Pinterest board and start pulling ideas! I wouldn't start actually planning/buying things until after he proposes unless you know how he is going to do it, I guess. I always wanted a super floral, garden wedding but after my FH proposed at balloon fiesta I decided I wanted a hot air balloon inspired wedding (still have my flower though lol). But if you really work at it and can focus on the wedding you should be able to plan everything smoothly in a short time.
