Hi community?I am planning to have a small wedding with 20-30 guests in total on January. Start by determining a budget and finding a venue (through the vendors tab)

Next find an officiant, catering, bar service, photographer, and DJ. Food is 100% necessary. An officiant should be able to help craft the ceremony for you.

Bridesmaids are necessary. Speeches are only if the family/friends want to do them.

So with my last wedding we planned it within a month. Nothing special, just 20 guests. We made all the food and had it at a VFW (it was raining) so we were able to have the ceremony and reception there for $300. I believe we had it for about 8 hours or so. I only had a MOH and him a BM. We didn't do toasts or anything. Hope this helps.

    Never self-cater. Ever. Never.

Don't self cater. Having a small wedding makes it affordable to bring in really good food. Start contacting venues in your area, I'm sure they can give you a good idea about places that would work for you.

Go over your budget with your FS, and head on over to the vendor tab and start touring some places. Even if it's only 30 people, you do still need to provide food. No, bridesmaids would not be necessary, neither would speeches if you don't want to do that. If you plan to buy a wedding dress, go off the rack, there may not be time for a 'traditional' wedding gown from a boutique.

Catering is necessary. Bridesmaids are not. Don't make your own food.

You can look into nice restaurants and rent out a private room, that may take care of most of the leg work.

The first thing you need to do is figure out a realistic budget.

You do not have to have bridesmaids lol. Not necessary at all.

You might be able to find places with winter specials in your area... I'd do a google search to see. I'm somewhat of an exception, but to me the only necessary thing is you, your FS, an officiant, a license, and if you're having guests, food and a comfortable place for them to eat. I second the restaurant suggestion too. Or a small all-inclusive place. There are some out there!

Two months is doable. You just can't be too picky.

Yes to the restaurant. Or maybe some local hotels depending on your budget because hotels usually have higher minimums to meet. But definitely someplace that will offer as much in house as possible to cut down your leg work.

Buy your dress off the rack so you can get alterations started immediately.

Bridal party is unnecessary. If anything maybe just a MOH & BM but let them wear whatever they want so you don't have to stress on it.

Photographer & DJ need to get booked as soon as your venue. Luckily end of January is the slowest part of the season for weddings so you should hopefully be able to find someone.

You might want to hire a DOC. This much this quickly might be hard to keep track of and having a "month of" type package could be beneficial at keeping you on track. They'll also have preferred vendors they can recommend

I second trying to find an "all-inclusive" venue that comes with a package for everything you need. January is pretty slow season, so you should be able to find a really good deal!

Bridesmaids are definitely not necessary at all. Save money on buying them a thank you. Find a venue that is small enough for that amount of people, perhaps a restaurant? Most restaurants don't charge a fee they just charge per person for food. DO NOT SELF CATER. You don't need the stress. Save money on flowers for centerpieces, or no centerpieces at all. Use dollar store candles and glass. Literally $1 each. Depending on the time of year, if its nice outside(idk where you live but in January in FL isnt bad!) find and rent a pavilion in a park. Very cheap and find a good caterer to come in. Decorate the picnic tables with nice linens and rent chairs for a ceremony. Parks can be very private. If you're religious see if the pastor of the church you regularly attend will come do the ceremony for you. Or have a church wedding and reception somewhere else. Most churches arent expensive, just a recommended "donation".

Good luck! There are a ton of ways to save money and time, especially with that small of a guest list!

Keep it simple; you're looking at January. Any restaurant will be happy to have you and most will have a low fee for the room, if any.

Find a restaurant and pick a menu. Get an officiant, a musician, a photographer for a few hours.

Find a dress, order a bouquet and simple centerpieces.

    Skip the bridal party.

    And don't, FSS, self cater.
